(This chapter is really just Florence explaining to Alex what her life was like. I'm actually going to just explain it like a dream. . . There won't be anything modern. Just a third-person experience of how Alex became a Moonhit. If you find that boring and/or don't want to know about Alex's past, skip dis chapter. Thanks for reading!! :3)
He's gone, she thinks. The razor blade was in her tremulous hand. He is gone, Alex, she thinks. Blood dripped from her already bleeding fingers. It was quite ironic that she was trying to do this even after the entire reason that he left was because he did it. Jason finished himself off. He couldn't handle being a. . . Moonhit?
A voice echos through the cold midnight air. It's warm and familiar. Calm, during this time of despair. "Aria? Please come back. . . Jason is going to be okay, alright? He's just - "
"Dead!" Alex shouts, "He killed himself, Grandpa!" Alex kept the blade hovering above her wrist. "H- He's dead. . . My brother is dead! He isn't okay at all. . ." The girl was only seven. And she was already attempting to kill herself. Was it funny to Alex that she didn't find anything about that wrong? Tears stream down her cheeks.
"Aria, it's urgent that you come inside. It's about to rain. I don't want your mother getting angered with you. And you don't want that either, honestly. . ."
As Grandpa said these words, Alex felt little raindrops falling upon her pale skin. She glanced up at her grandfather's soft face. He gazed at her calmly with his pale eyes. Oh, how much she loved him. . . But she couldn't. No, Jason was gone because of his own thoughts. He didn't. He did.
Alexandria growled, bringing her legs up to her chest and hugging them. She rested her forehead on her knees. "He's gone!" she shouted. Tears poured down her cheeks. "Jason killed himself," She sobbed in her safe place. "He's never coming back, Mother doesn't care, Father's gone, and you're just going to die soon!" She leaped to her feet. "I can't! I just can't!"
With this, the child darted off. Rain now came down in heavy sheets. It coated the grass as she ran through the silent hills.
That's when the moon struck her.
She collapsed, twirling a bit before falling onto her back. A piercing pain drilled into her forehead. Fear sliced through all her thoughts. All she saw was white as her hands tingled. But the worst. . . Oh, her headache. It was piercing through her brain like a bullet. She clenches her fists, emitting a low growl.
"Gah. . ." she murmured, pressing a fist to her forehead. Her eyes were shut tightly.
And then the thoughts came rolling. Everything she never knew about. I'm tired, said a voice. She lied! screams another. She couldn't tolerate it. A scream ripped from her throat. It obliterated the silence of the valley.
A hand fell upon her shoulder. She yelped and curled up beneath it, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Go away. . ." she whined. "It hurts. . ." But the hand didn't flinch or even bother to move. It remained right on her shoulder. The hand seemed to stop the now pounding rain against her sweater coated skin.
"You're going to be okay. Trust me. Just relax and let the headache stop. Okay? It'll be over soon. Lindsay, she has odd color changes in her bangs. They're red right now. More like a maroon."
"Daniel, that doesn't matter right now. You see her? She's having trouble living right now. We focus on that first. You got me?" The voices are nealy drowned out by the voices and headache, but Alex manages to listen. She hardly comprehends anything. But she makes sure she remembers Lindsay and Daniel.
