Alexis and Leticia are twins. The orphaned Wood-burn daughters, have no permanent home, and no, proper guardian. Their godparents, Lucy and Sam, went missing three months prior to their parents tragic death, and no new caretakers were chosen. After several weeks of searching, the social workers finally found a relative. One that is stable and who can take care of them. Greg Wood-burn, a twenty-five year old man, had agreed to take the pair in.
Grafton was a beautiful city, if you'd even call it that. Jacaranda trees scattered the urban streets, covering the November grass in fallen purple flowers. A huge crown was perched on top of the clock tower, silver lights glowing off it. The hand's of the clock, ticking slowly past the ten. The Wednesday night was cold, a slight breeze blowing. But, the residents of the city were awake and smiling.
The 'Crowning' took place every year, to award the Jacaranda crown to the next hopeful candidate. The speeches dragged on, longer they seemed to be each year. Leon Carlton, slowly yet surely snaked his arm around the girl and sure enough, she let it be. Cassi wasn't the type of girl to say 'no' and Leon wasn't the type of boy to take 'no' for an answer. The boy's blonde hair was swept to the side, in a rush. His bright blue eyes; screamed 'danger', but still every girl in Grafton drooled at his name.
Kirra Blissway shivered into her black cartigan. Black dresses tend to be a bad choice on a Spring evening, but she'd wanted to look pretty for her boyfriend, Chris. Nine months, they'd been together, but Kirra had been having second thoughts. Did she really want to spend the rest of her life with a smart, rusty headed, swimmer? Her answer should have been 'yes', but of course it wasn't.
Alexis and Leticia stepped into the square that held the annual festival. There uncle had pestered them out of the house and into the celebrations. The two brunettes caused quite a stir. Heads turned to stare at the strange girls. Leticia smiled seductively, her black dress barely covering her tan skin. Her sister, shared her dark complexion but not her desired impression. Alexis wore a white dress that flowed out at her waist, and finished nicely fifteen centremetres above her knees. Their naturally curly hair bounced as they walked into the square. Almost, instantly Leon rushed to Leticia's side, begging her to talk to him. Her thick eyelashes batted and she held his gaze, laughed and pushed him away, before linking arms with her sister. The pair continued past the food stands and the showbags, and climbed to the top of the grandstand, where a few boys moved to give them a place to sit. Even as they watched the show, the twins got lingering stares.
Everybody wanted to know who the mysterious pair could be.
