Kuroko woke up to someone softly shaking him awake. His eyes slowly focused on Zachary's face as the big center shook him. His brown eyes looked at him with worry as Kuroko tried to move his body, but it looked like the medicine had taken full effect leaving him in a weak state. "Midget, need me to carry you?" Zachary asked. It took all of Kuroko's strength to nod his head. Zachary sighed before handing his bag to McCal who stood beside them.
With no tremendous effort Zachary gathered Kuroko in his arms making sure not to move him too much. Kuroko could only nod once more before falling asleep in the arms of one of his most trusted friends.
Zachary came down the jet with Kuroko in his arms. The rest of the team was already waiting for them in the run way as the shuttle bus came around the corner to pick them up. He was grateful that the coach thought ahead and asked that the shuttle to pick them up on the run way and not inside. The last time that happened the media ate them alive, when pictures of Kuroko in that state aired. He didn't want something like that to happen again, not for his sake but for Kuroko's.
The shuttle stopped and the driver came down to greet them and take their luggage. The team said their hellos before making Zachary enter first to settle down Kuroko in the back seats. After that the others came in one by one, until all fourteen of them were seated.
Jack came all the way to the back and sat down next to Zachary. "How is he?" Jack asked. "Completely out of it. He couldn't even talk, all he did was nod before he was out like a light." Zachary whispered back, looking at Kuroko before turning to him. "Well I'm not surprised this time it was a bigger dose than before, but good thing is that it was his last. After this he'll be as good as new, no, better than new." Jack said.
"And the others?" Zachary asked. "He finished those a couple of days ago, the only things he's got left are the emergency pill, but we don't touch those unless we have to. I hope we won't need to, but I get the feeling we will." Zachary nodded his head, "Yeah, me too, but I have to say I am excited for this. It has been so long since we've had good opponents and from what we've seen and heard, they are good."
Jack rubbed his chin before saying, "That may be true, but I don't think we'll loose against them. Remember we are talking about a team that has for so long relied on themselves as individuals, in that type of teams they have to have holes. Besides, we can't loose, not to them. Never to them. That is something this entire team is clear on." There were a corus of yeahs and hell yeahs from the entire team, before the coach shushed them all.
Zachary and Jack laughed. Jack was right, there was no chance in the world that they were going to loose, not because they are the strongest, which they are, but because the would never allow themselves to loose to that scum. The one that hurt their team mate so much. They were going to pummel him to the ground, no matter what it took.
Kuroko hid the small smile he had on his face, before sleep took over him again. He was really cared for by his team, they never took him for granted nor did they make him feel inferior. They were the best team anyone could ask for, and he was lucky to be part of it. Love you guys, he thought before falling asleep again.
The next time he woke up, it was to the sun rays hitting his face through the window. He groggily sat up on the comfy bed still experiencing the effects of the medicine. His limbs took time before they reacted to his commands, little by little the numbness he felt turned to tingles. He had a sour taste in his mouth and his throat was as dry as the Sahara. He had tears running down his face, not of pain but just another side effect of the medicine.
He willed his blurry eyes to focus on the room he was in. He saw another bed to his left, a floor to ceiling window to his right, a large TV resting on top of mahogany furniture was placed close to the wall in front of the two beds. The room was painted in deep and soft yellows giving it a warm feeling, one that Kuroko didn't pay much attention to as he swung his legs to the side of the bed wiggling his toes of the soft carpet.
