I Need A Hero {Peter Quill}

Chapter 13

The group of five exited the Milano.

"I can barely see" Drax said. Groot opened his hand and a bunch of fire flies came out.

"When did you learn to do that?" Drax asked

"I'm pretty sure the answer is I am Groot" Peter said

"The flight deck is three hundred meters this way" Gamora said. Gamora led the way and everyone followed her. Gwen and Peter walked side by side and hand in hand.

"You're really warm. Are you okay?" Peter asked

"Yeah. It's just when I get really scared or angry, then the energy builds up and it becomes really painful. Oh, and I start glowing like a light" Gwen said

"But you're okay now, right?" Peter asked

"Yes Peter, I'm fine" Gwen said. They continued on walking.

"I want you all to know that I am grateful for your acceptance after my blunders. It is pleasing to once again have friends. You Quill, are my friend" Drax said

"Thanks" Peter said

"Princess, you are my friend" Drax said

"You're my friend too" Gwen said

"This dumb tree, he is my friend. And this green whore, she to is-" Drax said

"Oh, you must stop!" Gamora said. Nebula was suddenly in front of them.

"Gamora, look at what you have done. You have always been weak. You stupid, traitorous..." Nebula continued on. Gwen figured now was a good time to put her powers to use. She sent a blast of energy at Nebula, knocking her back. It was a bit of a stronger blast so she went flying back.

"Gamora is my protector and I will not have you talk to her that way" Gwen said.

"Head to the flight deck. I'll shut down the power to the security doors" Gamora said. Gamora went one way while the others went the other way. Gwen ran in front of the others until Peter caught up to her.

"That was awesome Gwen! I think I love you even more now" Peter said. Gwen looked at him with a smirk on her face while Peter looked like he had just seen a ghost.

"Shit, I didn't mean to say that. At least not now, I was waiting for the right moment" Peter said

"It's okay Peter. If it makes you feel any better, I feel the same way" Gwen said. Peter stopped walking and then leaned in to kiss Gwen.

"Let's take care of Ronan first Star-Lord and then you can get your kiss" Gwen said. Peter nodded and then grabbed Gwen's hand. They kept running, with Drax and Groot close behind, until they ran into a group of Ronan's men. One of them being Korath.

"Star-Lord" Korath said

"Finally" Peter said. Korath picked up Peter and threw him to the ground. Gwen looked at Korath with an angry expression.

"Nobody throws my boyfriend around like that" Gwen said. Gwen was about to shoot a blast of energy at Korath when he grabbed Gwen and threw her like he did with Peter. She landed beside Peter, groaning in pain.

"Boyfriend, huh?" Peter asked

"Not the time Quill!" Gwen said.

​"You thieves!" Korath said. He was about to strike at Gwen and Peter until Gwen shot a blast of energy at Korath, knocking him back. Drax then went up to Korath and started to fight him. Korath knocked him back.

"You will never make it to Ronan" Korath said. Gwen tried getting up, feeling a little sore as she did so. That blast used up a bit of the energy she had. Peter helped her up.

"You okay?" Peter asked.

"Yeah. I just have to make sure to not use to much of my power" I said. Suddenly, one of Ronan's men picked up Gwen, separating her from Peter. Peter wanted to save her but got a little distracted when some men went after Peter himself. Gwen started flailing her legs and eventually kicked the man in the side, making him let go of her and fall to the ground. Gwen reunited with Peter.

"You alright?" Peter asked

"Never better" Gwen said. They both then looked at Drax who had Korath pinned to the wall.

"Finger to the throat means death" Drax said, killing Korath. Peter and Gwen walked up to him.

"Metaphor" Drax said, mainly looking at Gwen.

"Sorta" Gwen said. More of Ronan's men came to them. Groot came to the rescue, when he put his arm through some of Ronan's men, throwing them around, knocking down Ronan's other men in the process. When Groot finished, he looked to the three and smiled.

"Good job Groot" Gwen said. They went back to fighting more of Ronan's men. Rocket's voice rang in Gwen's ear. She listened to him as she continued sending blasts of energy at Ronan's men.

"Pierce, you got to get down here. The city's been evacuated but we're getting our asses kicked down here" Rocket said

"Gamora hasn't opened the door" Gwen said. The door then opened and Gamora came to the rescue, shooting some of Ronan's men. Gwen saw Ronan just behind Gamora. She felt her anger boil up inside her. She then started marching towards Ronan. Peter caught up to her and grabbed her hand.

"Gwen, what are you doing?" Peter asked

"I'm going to kill him" Gwen said. She yanked her hand away from Peter's and stood a distance away from Ronan. He turned around and looked at her. Gwen started to glow and then she sent a strong, continuous blast of energy at Ronan. It caused a bit of an explosion because of how powerful it was.

"You did it" Drax said. Gwen stopped herself and fell to the ground, feeling very weak. Peter immediately kneeled beside her. He grabbed her and held her in his arms.

"P-Peter, is he..." Gwen trailed off. Peter was silent as he looked up and saw that Ronan was still alive.

"No. He's not" Peter said. Gwen tried to stand up but couldn't keep her balance. To make things worse, Ronan sent them all flying back. Drax ran to Ronan and tried to kill him himself but Ronan grabbed him by the throat. Rocket came to the rescue when he crashed into the ship.

"Peter, g-go help Rocket" Gwen spoke quietly

"I'm not leaving you like this" Peter said. Gamora walked up to Peter.

"You get Rocket, I'll watch over her" Gamora said. Peter nodded and then let go of Gwen to go help Rocket. Gamora kneeled beside Gwen, grabbing her hand.

"Your highness, that was a very foolish thing to do" Gamora said. Gwen tried to speak but no words were coming out. She was very weak. When Peter came back with Rocket, Gamora left to drag back Drax. Peter held Gwen in his arms again. Groot started to grow branches to protect everyone.

"Gwen, I love you" Peter said

"I love...you too" Gwen said, in a very weak tone before letting her eyes close. All Peter could do was look at Gwen. He though Gwen was now dead and he had just watched the girl he loved die. Gwen, was really just passed out and she could hear Rocket speak.

"No Groot. You can't. You'll die. Why are you doing this?" Rocket asked

"We are Groot"
