Felicity
I woke up with the sun shining in my eyes. I sat up and looked over to the other side of the bed. Justin wasn't there. I looked around then got up to take a shower. I showered under warm water thinking to myself. I'm engaged... Finally... Wow... I looked down at my left hand but the ring was no longer there. Shit. Did I leave it at Fredo's? I don't think so, I remember putting it back on.
My heart started racing in my chest, what if I lost it?
I quickly got out of the shower and put the robe on then started looking for it. After no success I got dressed then went downstairs. Justin was at the table reading the newspaper, with breakfast already made.
"Good morning," I said.
"Good morning," he replied.
"I didn't hear you come in last night," I said as I sat down across from him.
"You were sound asleep," he said.
I started eating the eggs before I ate the pancakes with just the right amount of syrup. Justin knew how much syrup I liked.
"I'm moving to Chicago," he said out of nowhere.
I choked on my food and reached for the glass of juice to swallow it down.
"You okay?" He asked.
I nodded, "I'm fine." After I was no longer in surprisement I asked, "Why?"
"I just want to move," he said.
"How soon?" I asked.
"Tomorrow," he said, "Last night I found a nice apartment."
"Apartment?"
"Yes."
"Why not a house?"
"Well I suppose, since it's just going to be me, that I don't really need a large house. It was depressing living here alone before I took you," he said.
"It's just going to be you?" I asked.
He nodded, "I think I need to be alone for a while."
"Where did this come from?" I asked.
"No where."
"Then why are you doing this?"
"I have my reasons," he said. "I also found a nice one story house in LA. I suppose you'll be okay with just one story right?"
"What?"
"I'll also be calling someone to take your things, you don't have to worry about anything," he said.
"A house?"
"I'm getting you your own house," he said.
"Why? Is that your way of saying sorry for breaking up with me? Do you think that buying me a house will fix it?" I asked.
"No, but I want you to have a house, for all you've done for me," he said.
"All I've done for you? I haven't done anything for you. And if you really do want me to leave then just tell me to my face. Don't go all out buying me shit that I don't need. I can buy myself my own shit. I appreciate it but I don't want your pity gifts," I said.
"It's not a pity gift Felicity," he said.
"Why are you breaking up with me?" I asked.
"Because this isn't a healthy relationship."
"Who cares!? It's fine! It's more than fine, or at least it was..." I said.
"I'm sorry," he said.
