"What's your favorite color?" This was a commonly asked question from the kids in Ray's school. The routine was that boys would say blue and the girls would say pink. This routine was so common that if anyone dared say anything else they would be ridiculed. Ray was unaware of this rule.
It was Rays first day at 'Saint Eric's school for gifted young children', he was apprehensive at first, seeing it was full of rich kids who had everything they could ever want. Ray knew that the only thing gifted thing about these children were the fact that their parents were either rich bankers, rich doctors or rich for the sake of being rich. This fact was cemented as soon as he walked into school.
"Hi my name is William Fitzalfredo-Johnson-SaintPaul, but you can call me Billy for short,What's your favorite color?" Ray was slightly startled at the abruptness of the introduction, he had expected to be asked his name first or at least something more relevant, but he went along with it and replied politely.
"Um... Hello Billy nice to meet you..." Ray paused just long enough for Billy to interrupt
"So What's your favorite color? I mean I know it's got to be very obvious seeing as your a boy it's bound to be bl.." Ray returned the favor and interrupted Billy
"Pink." Ray spoke with a matter of calmness.
There was along pause and the entire playground went shockingly silent for at least five seconds. It started with a giggle from two boys playing tag. Then the cackling from the girls playing hopscotch, that therefore lead to the rest of the playground bursting out into roaring laughter
"A BOY HAHAH" Ray heard someone shout
"PIIIIIINK" another voiced squawked louder
"WHAT A FRUIT" Ray didn't quite know what that meant but he was quite sure it didn't mean something good from the tone of their voiceRay had never felt so embarrassed in his life, and he wasn't even sure why. Why was pink so bad? His thoughts all over the place, mean while his eyes had began to water...
RIIIING, RIIIING, RIIIIIING
The screeching sound of the morning bell silenced everyone. ' At least the embarrassment was over', or so Ray thought. This was only beginning of his misfortunes.
