Denik and Todd pulled the car door shut with a slam, which resonated loudly around the car. The stuffy interior mirroring the hot day outside. Todd looked out the window at the pack house, again feeling as though he was being washed away on a tide that he could do nothing about. Denik started he engine and turned up the air conditioning, as Eli sighed contently in the back seat.
"So what's the first lead?" asked Eli from behind Todd in the back seat.
"We need to make a pit stop, to see Aurora first" Denik answered, maneuvering the car out of the drive.
Keane, Elle and Jaden had already left, so Todd knew they had to make up the time on the road, they had to get these leads sorted fast, before any vampire figured out what they were doing. The uncomfortable feeling of having a target tapped to his back was new to Todd, he pushed away the thoughts, he turned his attention to the conversation around him.
"--you called ahead? Aurora doesn't like unannounced visitors" Denik explained.
"I don't understand why we have to call ahead, I mean, surely she knows we're coming?" Eli asked, leaning through the gap between the 2 front seats.
"Yes, but we don't want her turning Todd away, just because we've turned up out of the blue" Denik explained, "plus we need her to guild Todd on meditation techniques to keep that jumped up fortune teller out of his head" Denik grimaced at the thought.
"Who's Aurora?" Todd asked, looking from Denik to Eli.
Denik chuckled, "Aurora is a very special werewolf, she is a psychic, but also teaches meditation to the new and young wolves, so that they can handle the change in there body and mind, when they come of age."
"You'll see what we mean when you meet her," Eli smiled.
The rest of the drive went by uneventfully, the only major thing was Alvis calling to say Keane had reached there first possible lead and was now investigating it. The 2 hour long drive was quiet, the heat of the day, that even the air con couldn't distinguish effectively, rendering everyone in the car lethargic, making them yield any enthusiasm they had for the adventure they were setting out on. Todd dozed on and off, and woke with a start as the car came to a stop. He looked out of the window at the small country cottage Denik had parked the car infront of. With no other houses around, the cottage seemed nestled into the wilderness around it, the big rolling hills behind it held large forests, although Todd knew that this cottage wasnt at all what it seemed, from a strangers point of view, the cottage seemed idilic with its white picket fence, lovingly wrapped in ivy and roses, light blue faded door, and double hung windows.
Todd opened the car door and stretched his sore muscles, long drives was something he wasnt used to, he had lived in the city his whole life, having no need for a car, he used the bus or subway to get where he needed to go, more often than not he walked though.
A strong flowery perfume, caught his sense of smell, he turned his head towards it, noticing a large pot of lavendar next to the front door, it seemed to fit in perfectly, Almost out of a fairytale, Todd thought smiling to himself, ironic if the big bad wolf stays in this little house, he stifled a chuckle, just as Denik knocked on the door.
The door opened to reveal a tall, willowy women with long pale blonde hair, that reached her waist, her piercing light blue eyes so light Todd had to do a double take to see if they were really white like he had first thought.
The women smiled welcomingly, her smile welcoming but cautious, assessing the men who had turned up on her doorstep but a gentle humor at seeing the obvious surprise on Todd's face. It was obvious he saw her beauty.
