Harry sighed, gazing across the Great Hall absently. He didn't really wish to hear of Ron's love of the food at Hogwarts. He didn't really wish to hear Hermione groan about excessive amounts of homework.  All Harry wanted was to go back to sleep. Wait...Where's Malfoy, he thought. His eyes had ended up over on the Slytherin table, where the blond usually sat between Pansy Parkinson and Blaise Zabini. The spot was empty, and Harry was left vaguely worried. He ended up being pulled from focus when the doors to the Hall swung open. There he is. Harry watched as the grumpy Slytherin sulked over to his seat. Their eyes locked and Harry gulped, looking down at his food. When he lifted his eyes once more, Malfoy's eyes were focused on his food as well. Odd, Harry thought. Harry started to slowly eat his breakfast, not realizing that it was time for Potions. The room emptied quickly, leaving Harry and Malfoy alone. The silence startled them, and they realized they were late. Quickly, they began to run to class. When they entered the Potions room, the smell they both received was intoxicating. Treacle tart, dungeon, and  Hawthorn wand. Harry's tastes were dignified. Draco was shocked when he smelled the air. Pumpkin juice, butterbeer, and broomsticks. Draco began to wonder if Harry had smuggled his favorite treats into class. Harry was wondering why Draco's wand smelled so strong.

"Ah, Mr. Malfoy. Mr. Potter. Glad you could join us. We were just explaining what we smell in the pot of Amorentia." Slughorn beamed. Harry's eyes widened and Draco's jaw dropped. They traded looks and stood on opposite ends of the group.  "What do you smell, Mr. Malfoy?" Slughorn asked.

"Pumpkin juice, butterbeer, and broomsticks." Draco announced softly. Harry dropped his book with a thud causing Hermione and Ron to look at him asking if he was alright. To which, he nodded. Slughorn promptly turned to ask Harry what he smelled in the potion.

"Treacle tart, dungeon..." He paused. "And Hawthorn wand." He muttered the last one hoping no one would hear it, but Draco did. His eyes widened. It was incredibly odd that the pair smelled each other, but nonetheless he wasn't going to say anything. No one else made the connection. Slughorn went on to talk about the effects of drinking Amorentia. All Harry wanted to do was disappear, which was near impossible with Draco staring at him. To Harry's surprise, Draco mouthed 'are you okay'. Harry shrugged and mouthed 'you'. Draco shook his head.

Soon the class was over and everyone parted ways, except Draco and Harry. Who stood awkwardly in the Potions classroom. "So." Harry sighed. "Did you really smell pumpkin juice? I would kill for some right now." Harry chuckled, trying to clear the awkwardness. It seemed to work because Draco cracked a smile and nodded.

"Yeah, did you really smell treacle tart? I love those!" Draco smiled, not wanting to bring up the Hawthorn wand. Harry nodded, smiling softly. "Can we..uh. Can we forget that this happened?" Draco asked quietly. Harry nodded, awkwardly. The two were about to part when Draco paused. "Hey.. uh. Harry?" He spoke. Harry turned quickly to face the taller boy. "Can we be friends? It's been six years and I would like us to be friends instead of constantly arguing." Draco explained, pleading with his eyes.

"I would love that, Draco. I gotta go, Hermione and Ron are probably looking for me. Pansy and Blaise are probably hunting you down too." Harry explained, smiling. Draco grinned. The two calmly and quietly walked together up to the library. When they walked in together, their friends were shocked. "Later Draco." Harry smiled before parting with the blond.

"Bloody hell. Harry what was that?" Ron exclaimed. Harry explained to his friends that he was going to be friends with Draco as of that day. He didn't say why, but when Ron asked he only said he just felt like it was time.

"We'll support you, Harry. If you and, er, Malfoy want to be friends it's fine by us." Hermione explained. Harry smiled graciously at the wild-haired girl. Ron eventually calmed down, agreeing but not without reluctance. Eventually it was the end of the day and dinner came around. Harry and Draco decided to walk together to dinner after their last class of the day. When the pair entered the Hall laughing, the entire room grew quiet. Not cold, but quiet. All eyes reached the new friends as they parted towards their separate tables. The silence ended and dinner began, but not a single person dared ask of the relationship between The Boy Who Lived and The Slytherin Prince. No one dared, for fear of accidentally making one or the other angry.
