Rachel and I gather at Mazzlie's house at five, carrying only enough clothes for tomorrow morning. everyone is in their pajamas, including us, when we get there.
"So, what movie do we watch tonight?" Mazzlie asks, turning to me. "Cat, it's your turn to pick."
"There's supposed to be a storm tonight, and a scary movie would be perfect." I say and walk toward the stairs leading to their movie store below their apartment. I pick out three scary movies and lay them out on the checkout counter, letting them pick from the three. Both girls point to The Grudge, so I put the rest back and walk to the basement.
Seth, Mazzlie's brother, is already there. He's standing against the wall playing on his phone while the girl took a gamer's chair for themselves, leaving Seth and I to share. I felt his muscles tense as I grabbed a cover, and I guess he thought I was moving seats, because they relaxed after I leaned back. There's no way I wanted to move. In his tank top, you could see his tattoo. It was barbed wire wrapped around his muscled arms.
"Cat, truth or dare?" Rachel asked, and I know it's a trap either way.
"Truth."
"Is it true you and Spencer went out?" She asks and Mazzlie gasps.
"Gross. No. And I'm skipping my question and giving it to Mazzlie."
"Yay! Seth, truth or dare?"
"Or both" Rachel pipes up.
"Both." He gives a stunning smile and crosses his arms.
"Truth first. Tell everyone how you feel about them" She demands " And no, it doesn't count as dare."
"Truth circle time!" Rachel declares.
"Mazzlie: You're an annoying sister, but I love you. Rachel: Hot, smart, but I wouldn't date you." He turns to me "Cat: You're hot." And before I could tease him about his horrible lying, he whispers, "And smart, and adorable, and I love you're freckles. You have the best smile."
"You guys do know it's rude to whisper in public, right?" Rachel cuts in.
"What can I say? I'm rude." He says with a shrug.
"Anyway, I'll go next." Rachel states. "Cat: Best Friend, and best shopper ever. Plus, sadly I agree with Seth. You're super cute! Mazzlie: You throw the best parties and get all the guys. I wish I was you. Seth: You're like a fourteen year old. A cute fourteen year old, but still."
"That's only because you don't know me." He says with a smirk.
"Cat's next." Rachel says, ignoring Seth's comment.
"Rachel: Hair is perfect. Super popular. I'm totally jealous. Mazzlie: Agreeing with Rachel. Seth: Like Rachel said, immature"
"There's got to be more for Sethy." Rachel says.
"Fine." I turn to him and shrug. "You're sexy."
"Anything to say to that?" Rachel asks Seth.
"Yup. Just that I've wanted to do this all night." Before I could respond, he smashes his lips into mine. To make sure he doesn't think it was a mistake, I kiss back. It isn't a mistake at all.
"Seth, are you messing with the girls?" A muffled voice breaks the stunned silence. He pulls away and says, "Well, that's my cue. See ya." He starts up the stairs but stops and turned to wink at me before continuing.
"What is that all about?" Both girls squeal.
"I have no idea." My heart pounds in my chest.
"Imagine if my dad hadn't called him upstairs. Talk about awkward." Mazzlie says.
