Fish Outta Water (Haru x Makoto)

Chapter Two

Makoto's POV:

I watched Haru float around in the water. He was happiest in these times. I decided to take advantage of this time to practice swimming. I let myself drift over to one side of the pool, and with all my strength, kicked off sending myself with a considerable amount of speed through the water. In less than a minute, my fingertips had hit the side opposite of me, and I lifted my head above the water and took a deep breath.

"What're you doing?" Haru swam up to my side.

"Practicing," I answered briefly, "Plus, it's good to exercise. Hehe. All you do is float around." Haru sank under the water so just his eyes breached the surface, "I'm just joking. Don't get so offended."

The water around Haru's head started to bubble, making it obvious that he was trying to speak. I gently lifted his head, and sure enough, he had been attempting to speak underwater.

"--tonight," was all I heard.

"Do you mind repeating yourself," I asked, smiling, "I couldn't hear a word."

Haru just frowned. Guess not...

"Haru-Chan~!! Mako~Chan~!!!" At once, both Haru and I turned our heads towards the voice. It was Nagisa and Rei. I guess they had, had the same idea as Haru and I. Nagisa ran to the edge of the pool and canon balled in, right where Haru and I were standing.

"Ah! Nagisa, careful!" Rei cried, "That dive wasn't beautiful at all!" Rei waded into the water soon after the blonde, being a bit cautious as not the slip. Wasn't paying any attention to Rei however. He was smiling happily and splashing around in the water. Well, that sucks for Rei, by u guess that's alright, there's no need to get involved. Wait, I suddenly became panicked and started looking around, Where did Haru go?! I turned my head right and left quickly, looking for even just the top of Haru's head.

"Oh!" Nagisa exclaimed, "Haru-Chan sank!" I looked down underneath of the pool, and sure enough, Haru was sitting at the bottom of the pool. He cheeks were puffed out, like he was holding in as much air as he possibly could. I sighed and grabbed ahold of his torso, gently lifting him above the water. When I did, Haru took the opportunity to catch his breath. "Are you alright, Haru-Chan?"

Haru glared at the blonde. His expression said enough. Nagisa clenched his fist dramatically, "That was a test!" He shouted, "Next time, I expect you to dodge!"

"Nagisa... I don't think he's too happy with you, this isn't the time for jokes," I said, letting go of Haru and turning towards Rei, "Rei. Control him if you can." Rei nodded. I turned back to get Haru, "Come on, Haru--" I started to say before realizing that he had sunken to the bottom of the pool again! "Haru, stop moping!" I pulled him up again. However everytime I let go, Haru would sink again. No matter what, Haru would not stay afloat...
