Makoto's POV:
After confessing my feelings to Haru, an immediate sense of regret filled my chest. I quickly removed my hands from Haru's hips and took a step away from me, all the while Haru simply stared up at me, his eyes slightly wider than usual.
"You love me?" Haru asked, after a long, awkward pause.
"Isn't it obvious?..." I felt myself blush and turned away from him. I could feel my heart pounding from this conversation, and I wasn't sure how much more of it I could handle.
"Was it supposed to be obvious?" Haru questioned. "Because if it was, you didn't do a good job. I never noticed." (*Haru us oblivious af*)
"Well, I think Nagisa, Rei and the fangirls caught on..." I muttered in defeat. "I just assumed you already knew." Had I realized how oblivious Haru really was, I never would have brought up the subject of my extreme adoration for him.
"Wait... do you mean platonic love?"
"Sure," I said.
"You're lying."
"Then why did you ask?!" I shouted, shutting my eyes tightly.
"Because I wanted to hear you say 'I love you'," Haru said, his expression still stone-cold. I was so shocked and confused, I couldn't move a single step. But I didn't have to. Haru strode towards me, and locked his lips with mine. I felt my eyes widen. His lips tasted like saltwater.
"H- Haru..." I said when he moved away from me. "I love you, Haru."
"I love you too," he replied, causing my heart to beat rapidly. Unable to resist, I wrapped my arms around Haru, hugging him tightly. Something I never imagined would happen had just occurred -- My love had been fulfilled. Haru hugged me back, and for a few moments, I was at total peace. "Can we get out of the pool now?"
