Prom can suck but it can be really fun too so?? Like??
Oh this wasn't requested by anyone...
••••••••There Maya was. All alone outside her school gym on prom night. She didn't even want to go, but somehow Riley had forced her to.
She sat outside on a bench, surrounded by the waves of fabric that was her dress. Maya recalled Lucas saying he wasn't going to come because he didn't know who to ask. She almost wished he asked her. Almost.
Riley came back outside for the fifth time. "Why are you out here again?" Riley asked lifting her dress up and sitting down next to Maya.
"I don't have a date, the music sucks, and... I don't have a date." Maya mumbled, rolling a pebble between her thumb and index fingers.
"I'm sorry, but please, just try to last," Riley pulled out her phone from her shorts' pocket, "one more hour?"
Maya groaned and didn't bother to move.
"Come on Maya, you're missing one of the most important nights of your life."
"Is it really that important?" Maya argued.
"Maya, pleeee-"
Lucas walked up in a silky black tux, casually looking at the two girls.
"Uh, hey." He said awkwardly.
"Woah, Huckleberry. " Maya whispered in awe. He looked really handsome and cute and every other attractive word someone could use for one person. Lucas was always the casual looking friend, nothing special, but he had always been really cute. Even if Maya didn't want to admit it. But, dude, put a tux on him and he could be voted America's hottest male. #2016
"Do I look good?" Lucas teased Maya.
"Yeah, yeah, you look great, Ranger Rick." Maya laughed.
Riley looked at the two and smiled. "I'm gonna go back to Farkle, see ya' guys later." Then she got up and left.
Lucas put his hands in his pockets. "So, why you outside."
"I was... Bored." Maya answered, not wanting to really admit that she was all alone at prom while her best friends had dates.
"Well, I can tell you, it's much more boring being at home all alone." Lucas said while slightly smiling.
Maya laughed. They both turned their heads towards the cafeteria as a slow dance started to occur.
"Ladies and gentlemen, grab your date and get ready for a slow dance!"
Maya stared at the ground.
"Maybe we should...?" Lucas sighed and then continued. "Would you like to dance with me Maya?"
Maya looked up at him in surprise. She lifted her dress and got up. "Yeah. Yeah, I would like that." Maya and Lucas walked into the cafeteria holding hands.
Riley spotted them from the dance floor and waved them over. She rocked slowly with Farkle's hands on her hips.
Maya and Lucas made their way over to them and starting dancing too.
"Nobody asked you I'm guessing?" Lucas asked Maya.
"Yeah..." Maya blushed.
"That's okay, I'm here now. I should have asked you but I didn't think you'd want to."
"Lucas, how could I not?" Maya laughed standing closer to Lucas and putting her head on his shoulder.
He smiled and kissed the top of her head.
"That was fast." Farkle noted.
