I TOTALLY ACCIDENTALLY PUT THAT SOMEONE REQUESTED A CERTAIN ONE BUT THEY DIDNT MY BAD SO HERES ONE REQUESTED BY @allydawson111
••••••••••••••••••••It was a special day. Especially for the class of 2020 which included Riley, Maya, Farkle, Lucas, and Zay and a few more that people rarely talk about. I mean, they never talk in class, they never raise their hands, so they weren't as important as the high five.
But anyways, the five have been friends all these years and now they were graduating. They all wore gowns and hats.
Right now they were walking out onto their field where the ceremony was taking place. Maya tapped Riley's back and whispered, "Are you nervous at all?"
Riley turned her head slightly and answered her back. "Of course! We're adults now, we can do whatever the hell we want. I'm kind of scared."
Maya rolled her eyes and continued walking. Soon, they sat down. Riley and Maya weren't sitting next to each other but at least they could still see one another. Lucas, Farkle, and Zay all had been spread out too but all five of them could make eye contact.
Lucas started to mouth a sentence to Maya but she couldn't understand and after a while she had to stand up and move forward.
As she sat back down she lost Lucas in the crowd along with the rest of her friends. It was just her now. Maya looked around at everyone's faces, noticing they all looked nervous.
Should she be to?
Her palms started getting noticeably clammy and her heartbeat quickened. Was she ready for the adult world? Would she continue to talk to her friends? The realization hit her and she almost started crying until a few people motioned for her to walk on stage.
She got up abruptly and circled back around to the side of the stage. Name after name was called until her own.
"Maya Penelope Hart," they called out. Maya cringed when they said her middle name but other than that she walked up on stage pretty confidently.
She shook all the 'fancy people's' hands and then grabbed her diploma.
Maya didn't stop smiling. Not even when she sat back down.
After awhile, Riley, Farkle, and Lucas were called up (Zay already got his diploma and was sitting next to Maya). Maya cheered as loud as she could for them. Then they all took their seats right next to Maya and Zay.
"A new chapter in our lives..." Riley said looking at her friends.
"Glad we can spend it together." Farkle smiled.
Lucas smiled too and patted Farkle's back.
The five finally focused on their principal talking but only managed to hear, "Class of 2020!"
And everyone threw their hats up. Except Maya and Lucas. Maya and Lucas laughed and then stared at each other, missing the celebration. It felt like they were the only people there.
"I need to talk to you!" Lucas yelled to Maya.
"Okay!" Maya yelled back, smiling.
Afterwards, while everyone was helping put chairs away, Maya and Lucas ran up to the classrooms to talk. Lucas tugged her hand as they finally reached somewhere quiet.
"What do you need to tell me?" Maya asked, breathing heavily from the running.
"I need to tell you that I've liked you for almost a year now. I never wanted to tell you, but I can now."
Then he took Maya's face and kissed her passionately on the lips. She grabbed the sides of his shirt in surprise. Lucas leaned away.
"How long?" Maya smiled.
"Since your birthday..." Lucas laughed.
"Wow." Maya said.
"I was just too scared to say it but Zay finally got me to. I'm sorry it took so long, it's okay if your disappointed or you don't like me back."
"Lucas! Are you kidding me? I've liked you for at least twice as long! I'm so glad you told me this." Maya exclaimed, looking at Lucas.
She kissed him softly. "Of course we can date."
Lucas took her hand in his own. "Let's get back to everyone and tell them."
Then Maya and Lucas ran back down to the field with their hands intertwined.
