We watched as Maya stumbled in front of the 117 door, struggling to stand up and opened the door. I picked her up and took her in her room where Riley was sleeping. Zay looked like he just woke up from his nap, because he walked in, asking, "Why the hell do you guys smell like coffee and sweat?"
Farkle answered before I could. "Maya was walking to fast, and we grabbed a cup." I set Maya down on her bed, her eyes still open, wanting to stay awake.
"Sleep," I suggested, but as usual, she ignored it. She rose up, escaped from my arms, and walked into the bathroom. I can hear the sink running and her splashing water all over, trying to wake up. She got out, drying her face with a soft towel, and smiled.
"I feel way better now." She laughed, and took her seat back next to me. "Nothing's wrong Huckleberry, it's just a twenty four hour thing." I didn't know if she was lying or not, but I could see she was too tired to speak, so I just gave her a small nod, and stood up to meet Farkle.
"Fine," it was Farkle's turn to talk to Maya, and sat next to her, his eyes trying to meet hers. "Then what happened in the bathroom?"
Maya hesitated before she could answer. "I just saw a spider and jumped scared the living shit outta me, alright?" Now I knew she was lying. She has a street pet ferret named Ginger, and I know this girl wouldn't be scared of a little spider. Farkle knew that too, but knows Maya doesn't want to talk about anything anymore.
She finally stood up and peeked through the peep hole of the door. "Expecting someone?" I wondered. She didn't answer back until a few minutes later. "No."
Riley was finally waking up. "Hey you guys are back." She smiled, but I felt bad. We didn't bring anything for her or Zay. Then again, we can always go back.
"Mornin' sunshine," Maya chuckled.
"What happened while I was out?"
"Just coffee." Maya stared at us. "Just coffee."
Riley faced to us. "You guys looks tired." Farkle nodded, and walked to her bed, plopping himself down.
"So Riley," I started, "What do you wanna do now?"
If that's the question we're always going to ask each other, then I'm gonna be sick of it soon.
"You look tired too," she argued, trying to set me down on Maya's bed. "Maybe you should rest."
"How can I? I just drank caffeine." I snapped back, laughing to try to not sound as rude as I meant for it to.
Maya never left her peep hole, realizing what she was doing, she walked back next to me.
"I feel like we're being followed," she finally said, with a serious look on her face. I almost laughed, thinking it was another one of her jokes, but she kept the same face on. "Who would want to follow us?" I asked, trying to convince her no one was coming.
"I just feel like it, like a shiver down my spine." She tensed, I tried to relax her by setting her down now, trying to get her to breathe slowly.
"Maya, no one's coming for us. Who would want to anyways? We're harmless, and if someone was following us, then maybe its some business guys trying to sell us something." I assured her. All I got was a simple nod from her, trying to act calm.
Riley stood up, this time comforting Maya. Now she was relax. I wish I had the same effect on Maya, but all I do is make her uncomfortable.
"Hey guys?" Zay walked back into the room. I haven't noticed that he left in the first place.
