"You're not a time traveller, Hazel. You're a witch."
The words echoed in Hazel's ears, making the sight and sound of anything else slowly die away. How could she be a witch? Are witches even real?
Her eyes widened as she looked over to Clara. Clara was looking sorrowful and a little bit guilty. She had to keep this from her all of these years, she had to.
"First of all, you should probably know how your parents died." Ashildr said, placing her hand on top of Hazel.
Hazel blinked. She didn't realise, but she didn't exactly know how her parents died. She listened carefully, trying to brace herself for what was to come.
Clara sighed and started talking. "When you were just five months old, and your brother was just over a year old -" Hazel cut her off there.
"Brother?" She shouted, feeling hurt that this was kept from her. Clara looked down guiltily, gulped and carried on.
"A dark wizard named Voldemort came to your house, to... Deal with your parents. We were there, watching. We saw it happen. He killed your father, then went into the bedroom and killed your mother. However, when he got to your brother, he couldn't kill him, so the dark wizard died. Then, once your brother and parents were taken away, we found you, under a box. Nobody knew you even existed except your parents and somebody else, but we'll get to that later. They tried to protect you because they knew it wasn't too late for you." A tear rolled down everybody's cheek. Hazel felt hurt. She couldn't trust anybody at this point.
Clara continued. "We searched for months and months, looking for any sign of a wizard. Then, we found someone. His name was Dumbledore, and he happened to actually know about you. He told us that your brother was a horcrux, that means that the dark wizard had accidently put a piece of his soul in your brother. Although, the soul was too great to be able to all be inside your brother, so the rest of it latched onto the nearest person alive who shared the same blood. That was you. Although, we were told that you must never go back to the wizard world. Too many dark wizards would be after you to bring back their Lord." Hazel was wide eyed through all of it, yet Ashildr widened her eyes at that last sentence.
Tears started streaming from Hazel's face. "Get out. Get out." She started to say calmly. Clara reached a hand out to her. "GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT!" Hazel screamed, shoving Clara and Ashildr outside and slamming the door. She slid down it, crying.
Ashildr looked at Clara. "You lied to her. That's not why she can't go back..." Ashildr whispered to Clara. "I did it to protect her, Ashildr. She can't ever know why she can't go back. She can't. Knowing her, she'd want to put things right." A tear rolled down Clara's cheek as she walked off.
