Beep, beep, beep.

I groaned. Did tomorrow have to come so fast? I stumbled out of bed, hitting my toe on the bedpost.

My day is already going bad, I thought to myself, as I got ready.

But first, let's start with the introductions, shall we?

I am a normal girl. A quiet one. Didn't talk, and people accepted it. If they noticed me at all.

Every year, I promised myself that I would make friends. Every year, I took one look at them and gave up, because all the kids at school were dimwits. They were cheap and dull, and acted like they were America's Next Top Model.

This is it, I thought, this is senior year. The last shot at friends before college.

In all my years at Griffin High, I had made precisely one friend - Courtney Alders. Bubbly, energetic, gorgeous, and optimist-supreme, Courtney was everything I wasn't.

"Addiiiieee!!," someone squealed in my ear, the moment I set foot in school.

As always, Courtney tried to knock me over with the rainbow of colours she wore.

"Hey, Courtney."

"I can't believe it. Black and blue again?," she asked, gesturing to my clothes.

I looked down. A black T-shirt and jeans. I didn't see what was so bad.

The bell rang. We walked to our first class, English, while Courtney (as usual) jabbered nonstop and I (as usual) listened.

"Oh. My. Gawd. Can you believe that Felix Herald is in our English class?!?"

Oh. Felix. He was the king of the popular clique in school. I personally called them the Drowning In Money clique, or DIMs for short. Very suitable, seeing as none of them had a GPA above 2.5.

"Courtney, he's just a playboy. A stupid womanizer. He's already gone through just about every girl in the school. I bet he's just waiting to get out of high school to check out the college girls."

"Addy, if you're not willing to witness the beauty surrounding this Greek god of a boy, at least let me."

I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye, trying to find out why all the girls swooned over him.
Dark hair, perfectly toned body, sparkling green eyes....fixed on me

Hold on, rewind. Staring at me?!
I watched, wide-eyed, as he wrote a note and sent people passing it down.

Hey, gorgeous.

Um, what?

Courtney was staring at the scrap of paper in my hand, mouth open, eyes as big as hubcaps.

"Omigosh! Flirt back! Flirt back!

"Hmm, let me think about it," I replied sarcastically, before writing down my answer.

Go die alone.
