RYDERS POV
After Lily and i ended our call, i continued with my poem. I secretly write on a website called Wattpad. It's rare to find dudes on the there but im one of them.
I've been on this site for almost 2 years and im still wondering if i should publish anything. Elsa, this chick ive known for a year now via wattpad, also writes poems and she's a normal 17 year old. Awesome ginger curls, bright brown eyes and she's got a thing for vintage clothing. Ive helped her pick some things a couple times.
Shes been trying to convince me to post a piece of writing up. She's We have a few things in common like music and books, so that's a plus.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
I hear my phone ringing. I walk over to it and Elsa's skype name pops up. My finger swipes to answer her call and im greeted with a sweet hello.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Not much, just bored and decided to call you" I hear music in the background.
"Well that sucks. I just finished writing a poem and now im just chilling"
"Alone? " She asks.
"Im always alone," I tell her.
"Why? Something wrong?" I ask.
"Nope nothing. Just wondering""Okay"
"Anyways, what was your poem about?"
"Nothing special, just the same old stuff" My eyes skim over what i wrote and a smile touches my lips.
"The same girl?" We've always addressed the mystery person in my poems as 'The Girl'
"Yeah, that girl" I closed my book and made my way to my bed.
"Are you ever going to tell her?""I will, one day. I just don't want to ruin what she and i have"
"So will i ever know who this mystery girl is?"
I hear her open a packet of chips and i suddenly start craving some. This sucks.
"Maybe you know her, maybe you dont" I see a flash of light shine through my curtain. Probably just the neighbors.
"Any clues? Hair colour? Age? Eye colour?"
"You'll have to listen carefully to my poems"
"I do!" She argues. A chuckle shoots out of my mouth.
"Yeah you sure do. So what colour are her eyes?" I hear the front door open and im guessing mom is talking to the neighbors.
"Uh.. purple?" Purple? I burst out laughing at her guess.
"Purple? I dont think i mentioned her having contacts"
"Hm im pre-" Her voice is cut of by my door opening and a loud,
"RYDS! I MISSED YOU!""Oh Lils, just a sec," I hold up my finger signaling for her to wait.
"Elsa, ill text you later on tomorrow. Im busy, got a friend over"
"I thought you were alone"
"Yeah sorry, i forgot i was having anyone over. Ill catch you later. Have a good night" She says her goodbye then the line goes dead."Oh did i interrupt something?" Lily asks. Dupping shopping bags on my bedroom floor.
"No i was just on the phone" I throw my phone onto my bed and walk over for a hug.
"Nope no hug," Her hands stop me.
"I forgot i was having anyone over" She mimics my words.
"What? I kinda did" I step closer.
"Well then you don't need a hug. Im sure whoever was on the phone already gave you a virtual hug. Am i right?"
"Nope you're wrong, " I step closer until we're chest to chest.
"And i want my hug" I bring my arms to wrap around her but she quickly ducks.
"And i don't have to give you one" She jumps onto my bed and gets under my covers.
"But you did want to hear my poem right?" I walk over to the bed.
"Yes i did"
"Well a hug for my poem?"
"Deal" She says and shoots out of the covers and pounces on me. Her arms circle around me and her mouth hits my neck.
"So this the hug you wanted?" My hold tightens and i whisper a yes. We stand there for a while until i tell her that it's time for her to read the poem.
"Can you read it to me?" I look over at her and nod. I reach for my notebook under my pillow and pull it out from under there. Once ive found the page i start talking.
"She was the epitome of an angel. She was elegant. Smooth. Pure amd innocent. Danger to the heart. My heart broke in pieces. She was always so oblivious. She didn't notice my stares. She didnt notice how every guy looked at her. She didnt notice my love for her. She was beautiful. She was mine. The bleachers. We shared a kiss. She trembled. She was nervous. I was nervous. We were a ball of emotions mixed together. She had deep brown eyes and id get lost in them every time she spoke. Every time words flew out of her mouth. I had kissed those lips. I had been so close to her. We had been one once. She was fire. She was ice. She was the sun. She was my moon. And i love her. "
"Wow. Ryds, that was amazing. I didn't know you could write like that" She looks at me for a while then pops a strawberry in her mouth.
"Thanks Lils"
"Sooooo who's the girl?" She asks the same question Elsa asked.
"Just a girl" I look over to the mirror for a second.
"Just a girl? Do i know her?"
"Enough questions Lils, you've read the poem, now you'll wait for the others"
"But i have more questions" She whines.
"And i have something to point out" I grab her hand and walk her to my mirror. I push her dark hair out of the way.
"You know, you have really interesting freckles," My fingers touch each dot. "They're so small. Like you. They also let your eyes stand out" Her almost almond coloured eyes stare at me through the mirror.
"Then your long lashes. It's almost like they're looking after these eyes for me. Closing them before you drift off to another land, do you ever see me there Lily? Have you greeted me with these hugs i get everyday in this other world?" I ask.
"I-I-I th-" I cut her off.
"I always wonder if your eyes change to another shade around others. I sometimes hope they do. I envy the others who get to look into your eyes and feel how i feel. Eyes shouldn't be this dangerous Lily"
"Ryds, im really confused" She looks up at me.
"You should stay confused" I check the time on my watch.
"But i want to know what you mean. Is that going to be part of your poems? Are you going to write that to the girl?"
"I dont know Lily, should i?"
