------BROOKE'S P.O.V------
I had lived in Mordville my whole life. Long enough to know what Mordville means. I had friends, not too many but I had some who I could always count on. My family all got along. My house was pretty big, not a mansion, but a decent size for all five of us to live in. Life was good. I didn't have anything to complain about.
Until that one day.
Hunter Grey had just moved next door. I hadn't seen him before but I got that faint feeling that I should know him. He seemed like an okay kid, he was my age and he went to my school so I saw him quite often. I never really spoke to him though, apart from the odd 'hello'. He had scruffy brown hair, big, green eyes and a face that you could never forget.
It all started when my mother decided that the new family next door should get a warm welcome into the neighbourhood.Being an avid sarcasm user I naturally snapped back, "well the rain isn't going to help, now is it?" my mum just rolled her eyes and handed me a freshly baked apple pie. Its smell wafted through the air and caused my dad to come running. "Do I smell pie?" he asked coming up behind me and trying to get a slice of it. "Yes but it isn't for you Jonathan!" My mother slapped his hand away. "Now, Brooke, go take that over to the neighbours please, before your father eats it all" she said, eyeing my father suspiciously. I signed and grabbed my umbrella. I headed out the door and walked over to their gate. I stopped just before opening it, remembering when the Sullivan's lived here.Only it wasn't the Sullivan's who lived there, it was the Grey family.
I unlatched the gate as I watched them unpack their things. I went over to Mrs.Grey to welcome them to the neighbourhood. As I got closer she looked up at me with a big, perky smile. "Um, hi.' I waved awkwardly and mentally face palmed myself. I wasn't usually so shy, I was normally the weird, outgoing girl, who was definitely never shy. Mrs.Grey held out her hand and I shook it. "So you must be our new neighbour!" She said, her smile getting even bigger. "Uh, yea. I guess I am." I don't know how stupid I must of looked but it must of been pretty bad considering Mrs.Greys smile dropped a bit. I cleared my throat and held out the pie. " My, mum made it for you and your family, she said to welcome you to the neighbourhood." She took the pie and turned around waving to me to follow. I decided it couldn't hurt to go into a strangers house could it?
Anyway, I followed her into the house and my jaw dropped. The house was huge. I had been over there a couple of times to say hello to our old neighbours but I had never been inside. It was incredible, the kitchen had marble floors and fancy appliances, the staircase was humongous and the rooms where huge. I couldn't stop looking at it and didn't notice that I had walked right into a wall. Only it wasn't a wall, it was a boy who looked about my age, 16. I looked up at him and stopped. I don't know how long I stared at him for but it must have been a while. He looked down and said sorry, then he walked into the kitchen. I followed him in and saw his mother unpacking some boxes, the pie sitting on the table. "Oh, good, you're both here. Now, how about we sit down at the table and eat this delicious pie that, um.." She faltered. "I'm sorry dear, I didn't even catch your name!" She laughed a bit. "Brooke, my names Brooke." I said slowly, still looking at the boy. "Well then Brooke, I'm Ruth Grey, and this is my son, Hunter.
So that was his name. Hunter Grey. I wasn't going to do any stalking when I got home. None. None at all.
