Chapter Two : The Ice Princess and The Flame Brain

As I was walking to school the next day, I thought about all what happened yesterday. I thought about how I became friends with the weird new kid in just a few hours, and that little cat, too. I couldn't contain my smile as I thought about the pair. They were both so... friendly. I was still smiling to myself, deep in thought, when suddenly... *THUD*. My body crashed into something... hard. I backed away quickly on instinct, confused. I looked ahead of me to find that it was actually a someONE. A boy, to be exact. When he turned, I got a good look at him. He had jet black hair, and this cool chain necklace with a cross hanging on it. I would have described what he was wearing, but here's the thing... he wasn't wearing ANYTHING. Just some boxers and the necklace.

"I...I..." I didn't really know what to say. I was so weirded out that I couldn't muster up a "sorry".

The boy looked at me funny and crossed his arms. "You best watch where you're goin'. You could get yourself hurt, crashing into people like that."

"Y-yeah." I averted my eyes from him and coughed awkwardly. "Sorry... uh, did...did you forget your clothes or something?"

He looked down at himself and jumped, startled. "Crap, I did it again!" he muttered. He looked back at me. "Do you have any spare clothes on you? Maybe like a shirt, pants... anything'll do..."

"Why would I have a SPARE set of clothes?!" I shouted. Man, this town is turning into a freak show. "Anyway, who the heck are you?"

He scratched his head, more of in thought than embarrassment. "Oh, yeah. My name's Gray Fullbuster, I just moved in here."

"Um...oh, I'm Lucy Heartfilia by the way. Just out of curiosity..." I tapped my chin, processing this. "Do you just happen to know someone by the name of Nat--"

I was stopped short, and as if on cue, a cry sounded from behind me. Before I could react, a boy (completely on fire, mind you) appeared out of nowhere and crashed into this Gray character. I flinched and coughed from the smoke, and when I opened my eyes I saw a lot of flames and a lot of spiky chunks of ice being thrown around. From this, I suspected that the guy I just met is an Ice Make Mage.

"The hell you doing talking to my friend, Ice Princess?" came a growl from the smoky mess.

"What're you talking about, ya freakin' Flame Brain?!" exclaimed another.

I stood there, completely lost, until I finally realized that the new voice belonged to Natsu. "U-um...I'll take it you two do know each other..." I coughed as the smoke from the fire before reached my lungs.

All of a sudden, a pink head popped into view, out of the smoke. "Hey, Luce!" he said cheerfully. "L-Luce??" I mumbled, blushing. He ignored my comment and continued. "Anyway, yeah, I do know this Ice Idiot. Why're you here? Aren't you supposed to be at the other school?" he spat at Gray.

"Shut up! It's not like you're the only one moving schools, you know..."

"Aye!" I turned to see Happy standing next to me out of nowhere. He looked up to me. "He's right! This isn't a coincidence. The school Natsu and Gray used to go to is closing down, so everyone from that school moved, most likely around here."

"Oh, really?" I said, tapping my chin in thought. That must mean there's more of these weirdos coming over here, to my school. For some reason, I couldn't help but be happy about it. Just one of them completely changed my life in a span of 24 hours... Suddenly, Happy's expression grew smug.

"Pssst, Lucy! Even though they fight a lot, they are actually real good friends!"

"NO, WE AREN'T!" the two boys screamed in unison. I fought back a giggle.

I definitely wouldn't mind a few more of these guys.
