Diana's POV

*Thursday, 28th of November, 2019*

I hadn't seen much of Ashton lately. At the moment, he'd been staying with Adriana in New York. He was on vacation with her.

For the last three years, they'd been going pretty good. It hurt me every time I saw them, but I'd gotten used to the fact that they were together, and I guess as long as Ash was happy, I was happy.

They'd had a few ups and downs, but they surprisingly worked through them all. I'd forgiven Adriana since I saw how in love she was with Ash and how in love he was with her, but I hadn't forgotten.

Every time that there was a problem or if there was something good, I was the first one to know. I was basically Ashton's advice-giver and encourager.

I'd spoken to him less and less ever since he started dating Adriana, but I didn't want to say anything. I hated it, but I knew how to deal with it. It's what I'd been doing for years.

I was talking to Ashton on Skype when he asked me to Skype. I agreed, obviously.

I waited for the camera to load once the call was connected.

To my disappointment and shock, it was not Ashton's face that I saw. Instead, it was Adriana's.

"A-Adriana."

"Hi Diana," she smiled. I felt like it was fake. Well, she was fake so what could I say?

"Hi, how's everything in New York?" I asked with fake enthusiasm.

"It's good," she replied curtly. She smiled after saying that, as if the smile would make her response genuine.

"So, anything new?" I asked. I had to make the effort so that I didn't look like a bitch.

"Oh, yes, actually!" As she said that, I saw Ashton walk up the stairs that lead to that room.

"Oh, who are you skyping, babe?" Ashton asked Adriana. Adriana smiled at him and he smiled back, making my heart hurt.

"It's Diana, babe," she replied, sweetly.

Ashton's face dropped immediately. I was confused, but continued to smile. Ashton quickly smiled and waved.

"Ashie, come here, babe! We need to tell Diana our big news!" she called to him. Her nickname for him made me sick.

"Um, give me a second," Ash said. He sounded like he was faking his happy tone, and I could hear an undertone of nervousness.

When Ashton finally came and sat next to Adriana, they started to tell me what was going on. Adriana put her hand around Ashton's shoulders as she spoke, making me grit my teeth as i listened.
