Dear Diary,
The next day was pretty weird. It started when I woke up late- around nine am. By that time, I had missed breakfast. I grabbed a snack from the hidden stash under my bed and went for a walk.
On my way out, I bumped into who else, but Pablo. ? And I literally bumped into him, and sent him flying off of his pretty little feet.
"OHMIGOSH I'M SO SORRY PABLO, I DIDN"T MEAN TO KNOCK YOU DOWN AND I'M SO, SO, SO..." I stopped when I realized everyone within the area was staring at me. "Nothing here to see folks, continue on" I gave a shaky laugh, and they returned it with odd looks. I reached out my hand to help Pablo up. He accepted. I yanked him up with all the strength I could manage.
"For a dainty girl, such as you," He grinned, "You have quite strong arms" True his English wasn't perfect, but I accepted the comment with grace. Well, sort of.
"Ummm..." I blanked. "T-t-t-t-thanks." He smiled at my falter.
He started to talk again with his gorgeous accent. "I came to tell you that the practice of drama is cancelled for today. They want our voices saved for the campfire ceremony tonight." WHAT?! I thought. How was I supposed to sing when I didn't know the song? I voiced my opinion. "Oh." Pablo glanced up with his dreamy green eyes. "They said it was a surprise, but that us all would know it"
I giggled at his imperfect grammar. I blinked my eyelashes a lot to try and look cute, but it probably looked like my eyes were having seizure. "'Kay!" I giggled and skipped along to the wooded path. That's when I saw Marcus. Eating wild berries.
I slapped his hand. "You idiot!" I was in the middle of giving him a nice little lecture about wild berries, when he shoved one in my mouth. It tasted exactly like... like... Grandma's house! The last time I tasted that was at Grandma's house about a year ago, on the blueberry muffin, video game day. I would never taste it again, because Gram died three months earlier. Marc refuses to talk about her death. He's still in denial. But I forgot all of that when I remembered just how hungry I really was. I dropped on all four and scrambled to pick all of the berries. Oh the marvelous taste!
I blew the hair out of my face, and realized my clothes were probably stained. For once, I didn't care. I was making a mess when I heard a footstep close to me. Too close. I turned around to see Marc shooting a video of my only messy moment in awhile. I got up and chased after the already running boy. I chased him through the woods until he took a turn; I tried to follow him, but got lost. The wind blew, and the trail got covered with blown leaves. Oh god! Now I've done it!
I tried looking for a specific landmark that would stick out. I ran and ran. Still nothing. Marc had probably sent the video around by then. The wind stopped blowing. All was silent. I yelled. No answer. The good news- This was already more exciting then last year. The bad news- I was absolutely lost, and was still hungry.
"I wish I had those berries!" I moaned.
