This chapter is for my little cousin its_sarah_x for reading my book even though she doesn't like reading and because she loves Jake.

Jake (pov)

Sam.

I missed my brother.

It hurt to think of him.

So I could imagine how much harder it was for my parents.

I just sat there looking at Alessia.

She looked lost, unsure of what to do.

For the first time she seemed to run out of words.

I found myself desparately waiting for one of her snarky comments to lighten the somber mood, but it never came.

She sat on the sofa holding Lilys hand as Lily talked about the Good Dinosaur movie she had watched that weekend.

She wasn't really listening to her.

Her eyes kept glancing at the door my parents had walked out.

She actually seemed upset.

I didn't think she realised this.

I remembered the first time I saw her. This tiny person with big brown eyes all dressed in black.

She had really changed, but I bet she'd punch whoever tried to to tell her that.

Her wardrobe much less aggressive since Kaitlyn was now letting her borrow from her closet.

They were getting along remarkably well these days. Braiding each others hair and all that girly crap.

I smiled watching my three sisters try to find Waldo in the book Lily had brought down from her room.

Her once always scared eyes were now replaced by smiling ones.

She suddenly got up and walked out to the porch.

She always did this. One minute she was there with you, the next she gets up without a word and leaves you wondering what you did.

Kaitlyn looked at me and her eyes said this one's for you.

I nodded and went after her.

I found her sitting on the beach with her feet dug into the sand.

She seemed to always run to the beach whenever she didn't know how to deal with a situation.

It pained me to see the bruises on her legs everytime.

She wore them like armour.

I sat a few feet away from her, because I knew she got tense whenever we got near her.

We sat in silence as I waited for her to speak up whenever she was ready.

"So what happened?"

She spoke softly, toying with her bracelet.

"It was last year."

I paused and desperately tried hard not to choke.

"There was a shooting at his college."

She looked at me with big sad eyes and opened her mouth as if to say something, but then she bit her lip and looked towards the sea again.

"My parents were at work when I got the phone call."

"Kaitlyn was at a friends house and Lily at a play date with the neighbours kids."

"I got in the car and drove to the hospital where my dad works, even though I didn't have my license yet."
