Alessia (pov)

I woke up to find myself drooling on the car door with my head in a funny angle. Shit. Now my neck would ache for a week.

The car stopped and the driver got out of the car. I looked out the window to see this beautiful house. I already despised them.

I got out of the car and slammed the door and leaned against the car popping the gum I was chewing. I didn't even like gum ,it tired my jaws after a few minutes but I knew it irritated some folk, so what the hell.

I scrutinized the house once more. It really was a cute little two storey house that stood like a soldier facing the sea.

I loved water. Whenever my mom wasn't around, which was alot. I would fill up the tub at home and just pretended to be a mermaid and soaked in it for hours till my fingers got all wrinkled.

I watched as the door opened and a family of five walked out. They were like the perfect American family.

The father was a big man but kind of reminded me of Santa with his beard and big belly, only his beard wasn't white. He had kind eyes just like Annas, they twinkled as his smile reached his eyes.

The mother on the other hand was like a model. All tall and slim with long blonde hair and she walked like one too.

Their kids right behind them. A girl and a boy who looked so much alike I assumed they were twins and a much younger little girl who tried so hard to keep calm.

I already felt like an intruder being the only one with black hair and I was really short and tiny. Everyone assumed I was eleven.

They approached me slowly taking in my appearance. I wore all black and rocking a tattoo on my shoulder which I made sure was visible by wearing a strapless top.

I thought I saw regret in their eyes already. But who cared, right? I was going to pull the same crap I did and get going.

"Hiii"

The little one screamed. I just looked at her amused but my face free of emotion.

I shrugged. The dad walked towards me

"I'm Ned"

He said as his hand stretched as if to shake mine. I just looked at him showing no sign of extending mine.

No way I was shaking it. He was too big. There was no way I could take him down. The mother maybe, but him, just no! He put his hand in his pocket awkwardly.

"Owkaay. Maybe we should go inside. All-e-ssia must be tired"

"It's pronounced All-i-ssia" I glared at the mother.

Everyone just looked at me and I think I even scared the little girl. She stopped fidgeting and was now clinging to her dads hand.

"As pleasant as this is, can we go inside now?"

The boy chuckled

"I like you already, I'm Jake"

he grinned at me.

"And this is my twin sister Kaitlyn and the little weasel is Lily"

Aah! So they were twins.

The Dad picked up my bag. It was small. I didn't really have much.

As we stepped into the house, I was fully taken in by how cosy the place looked. The sun made it's way through the long white curtains that covered most parts of the room. They gently swooshed with the breeze from the sea. And it smelled good too. All I remembered from my house was the smell of liquor and cigarettes.
