Turns out that I wasn't just seeing a dead girl in the woods. They found her too just as I saw her. They titled it on the news as a gruesome murder.
They had her father on the screen doing an interview when they showed the breaking news about the killing. He was... He didn't look sane. When he began to talk I actually leaned forward and listened.
"There was... There was this tall looking fella. Had on a nice sharp suit and a-a red tie. You can't miss him. Days before she went missing he-he would come and visit. I never did get a good look at his face simply because....because he didn't have one. I'd see him, she wouldn't. She didn't until-until he finally got her and took her from me."
"You say that he had no face, what do you mean by that?" The news girl asked.
"He didn't have eyes! But I knew he was watching! He was always watching. He never stops. He never fucking stops!" He screamed and I was terrified. "He never stops." He finally says before taking a gun from somewhere and blowing his brains out. The camera guy dropped the camera and all you could hear were screams. I was frozen in the chair.
The tv was cut off and I looked behind me. "That's enough Tv." Adrian said setting the remote down and coming to sit next to me.
"He was talking about-"
"Yeah I know but-"
"But what?" I asked looking over at him tearing up. "You can't tell me that he was crazy."
"He looked crazy Karen."
"He looked terrified!" I said jumping up from my seat. "I knew I wasn't alone. I knew he's out there terrifying other people. Soon it'll be me blowing my brains out!" I was sorta panicked but more outraged.
"Karen, don't say that."
"Why not Adrian? I know you're thinking it."
"No, I'm hoping that it doesn't happen Karen calm down."
"I can't calm down! I'm next! He's going to kill me and-and no one will be able to stop him!" My voice was completely shaky and extremely whinny.
"You just need to rest. I'll stay if I have to."
I turned away from him and headed to my bedroom. Maybe now everyone would believe me. They wanted proof, well there it was. I knew I couldn't be the only one.
I didn't know how I managed to fall asleep that night. I just woke up a little too early though. I got out of my bed and I didn't know my mom allowed him but, Adrian was in my bed asleep. That explained why I slept so well. So I took a shower and remembered that it was Saturday meaning no school. I don't even know how I was doing in school. My mind had just been in so many other places these past months.
"Morning." Adrian said when I walked back into my bedroom.
"Morning to you too. Didn't know you stayed the night."
"Well you were too upset to realize anything last night. It was just a long day I know."
"Why don't you just dump me already?"
"Because I love you and you're one of my best friends."
"You have more friends?" I said acting surprised.
"Oh you're so funny!" He said with a laugh. "Yes I have more friends." I walked over to him in doing so took a look out my window. My heart almost stopped. He was there. I like almost fell over. "Whoa you okay?" He got up from my bed to help me.
"Yeah, yeah I just thought I saw something." No point in going any farther than that.
He looked at my window and started to laugh. "What did you see?"
"Nothing. I said I thought."
"What did you think you saw?" He said stealing away my attention with a kiss. So I just fell into him laughing and then kissing him back. The kiss somehow made my heart race more than usual. Was I actually taking back control of my own mind and enjoying something as small as a kiss? Had slender man finally gave up on me and messing with my mind? Was that brief moment in the window a final goodbye?
I put all my excitement and eagerness into every kiss we were sharing right now. He noticed this and broke away from me laughing.
"What has gotten into you?" He asked still laughing.
"Nothing!" I said laughing also but then biting my lip innocently.
"It must be a good morning."
"A very good morning." I said leaning back in for another kiss but someone had knocked on the door ruining it all. I went to get the door and of course it was Adam.
"Sis did you see the news last night? Your boy slendy is supposedly real."
"Yeah okay thanks for telling me that Adam now bye." I closed the door on him locking it.
"Ouch that was harsh." Adrian said with a crooked smile. Of course he didn't care.
"He's telling me crap I already know. Now where were we?"
"You should smile more than you do. You have an amazing smile Karen."
"Thanks." I said smiling then walking over to him. "You should too."
"I smile way too damn much."
"Not even!" I said jumping onto my bed laughing. He got next to me shaking his head. "You don't smile that much when you're around me."
"Because I get nervous." He said in a low voice. I pushed him playfully and he grabbed my arms and pushed me back on my bed leaning over me. "You make me so nervous." He whispered before kissing me. I placed my hand on the side of his face and pulled him closer to me. I shut my eyes and just let my lips do everything. It was sorta relaxing and far better then being paranoid about everything surrounding me. I knew it was just me and him in this room. I checked. I mean I thought I did.. But then I felt like someone or something was watching us. When I opened my eyes I sorta pushed Adrain away terrified.
He was standing in the corner of my room just watching.
So much for my happy ending.
