My face was covered in grit and all the grime from the cell, so when the tears fell, my sobs were wracked and a brownish hue. Reef simply glared. He had been my one true friend. We had shared so much. All it took were my ex-friends labelling me as a Slacker and guards to move us. Now a thick cloud of smog-like hatred envelopes us.
"Reef?" I sob for the first time in two days
"What, Offender-girl?" He says angrily
"Are we still.....friends?" I ask, glumly
He becomes quieter and whispers "Yes! Oh Cassia, I've missed talking to you! It's just we've got to fool the guards, so we can escape" he says with malice
"But..but I'm not an Offender! I'm a proud citizen!" I holler indignantly
"Look I can't tell you here but, the Society is hiding something, somewhere and we are going to find it. You and me, Cass, you and me."I had no choice. Go with Reef or spend my life begging for Breath and trapped in a cell. "Er, okay, I guess. I'll go with you."
