I looked around the room as the sun light began to fade. "Mayor, do you think you could show Scarlet where her chambers are?" He nodded, smiling. "Of course. If you'd follow me Princess." The Mayor said, looking at Scarlet. She nodded, glancing at me from the corner of her eye. "Good night my Lord." She said, curtsying. I bowed my head in return and watched the girl exit the throne room. The boy and guards followed, leaving only Sally in the room. The oak doors closed and I looked at the young woman across the room.

"You're going to fall in love with her Jack." Sally's words took me off guard. "Excuse me?" I said as Sally walked towards me, sorrow in her eyes."I saw the way you looked at her when she stepped out of the carriage. You never looked at me like that." I sighed, watching Sally. She walked past me, our shoulders brushing against one another. I watched as the woman I loved stood in front of the platform that held the throne she would never sit on. I walked up to Sally, putting an arm around her shoulder as I looked at the thrones. "No matter what Sally, you will always be the one I love. I promised you that, didn't I?" The last rays of sun filled the room, then vanished, leaving us in black. I felt Sally take a step forward, causing my arm to go limp. I heard her heels step onto the platform and move around a bit. Then it was quiet.

"I miss your arms that held me and made me feel safe... and your hand that I used to hold that stopped me from falling into deep darkness." Sally said in a hushed voice. After the words left her lips, a silver light from the moon filled the room. I blinked, allowing my eyes to readujst to the light. After a few moments or so, I looked up expecting to see Sally, but she was gone without a trace. I sighed and turned on my heel, striding out of my throne room and towards my bedroom.

I woke early the next morning. I could hardly sleep through the night. Sally's words rung through my head all night. I dressed myself in my normal attire and left my room, heading towards the dining area. The large room was empty, only a few servants coming through to disappear into the kitchen. Bored, I sat down at the head of the table, leaning back in the large chair. After a few minutes of silence, I heard footsteps coming towards me. It was one of the servant boys. He stood next to my chair, standing straight. "Would the master like his food now?" He asked in a hushed voice. I shook my head. "I'll wait until the others arrive." "Yes sir." The boy replied, bowing and walking off into the kitchen.

I'm not sure how long I sat at the table in the empty dining room, but by the time the sun was high in the sky, Scarlet walked through the door, the Mayor behind her. I stood quickly, bowing my head to the young Princess. "Good morning Scarlet." I said, looking at the teen. Her raven hair was pulled back in a pony tail showing off her lovely face features. A dark grey eyeshadow was dusted over her lids brightening her grey eyes. Her lips were glossed over by a soft, milky pink. She wore a loose black short sleeveless dress that came to her knees along with a pair of black flats. A diamond necklace was around her neck, glinting in the light. Although the outfit was simple it did not fail to compliment the young girl's beauty.

She curtsied smiling softly. "Good morning your Majesty." "Good morning Jack." The Mayor's voice reminded me he was in the room. "Good morning Mayor." I said, turning my attention to man I've known for years. "Please have a seat. Breakfast will be out shortly." I stated. The Mayor took his usual seat on my left without hesitation. I noticed Scarlet slightly biting her lip, deciding wear to sit. "Princess?" I said. She looked to me. "I'd be honored if you would sit by me." A soft pink color covered her cheeks and she nodded, walking towards me. Being the gentleman I am, I pulled out the chair across from the Mayor. Scarlet nodded her appreciation as she sat. I pushed the chair in and Scarlet looked up at me, grey eyes bright. I winked to the Princess, returning to my own seat. I noticed her cheeks redden and she lowered her head, hiding her face.

I chuckled to myself, sitting down. "I trust you slept well, Princess?" The Mayor said as plates of food were brought before us. Scarlet looked up, her face still slightly pink. She nodded. "Yes, I slept fine." "Are you happy with your chambers?" The Mayor continued. "Oh yes, it's absolutely beautiful." The Mayor smiled. "And you Jack? How did you sleep?" I shrugged, looking down at my plate. Scrambled eggs with pepper and toast, lightly buttered. The normal. "Fine, I suppose." I answered, looking up. The larger man nodded to himself, staring at me. "You have quiet the busy day today Jack. After breakfast there will be a town meeting discussing the costumes children wear during Halloween. Then you have a meeting with the vampires. They are a little upset with the way the sun has been rising. Then you have to deal with the Grim Reaper. He's been collecting more souls than needed. From there you have to talk to the Wolfman. He's been howling even when there isn't a full moon. And you must speak with Corpse family-"

"Actually Mayor, I was hoping to spend the day with Scarlet." I said, cutting the Mayor off. The two both looked at me, eyes wide. "You see, I wanted to complete the tour of the palace and show her around the town." The Mayor's face lit up as the words left my mouth. "I have a wonderful idea! Complete your agenda and take Scarlet with you! This way she'll meet the people, hear their issues and see the town!" The Mayor exclaimed, smiling widely. I looked at my bride to be. Her eyes were light, her smile wide. "That's a brilliant idea! It would be so much fun!" I raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? It's a pretty boring process. We wouldn't return to the castle until dusk." I informed the girl. She shouldn't have to worry about the townspeople yet. She should enjoy her freedom while it lasts. I thought to myself. "I want to come. Please Jack." Scarlet begged, pouting her lips slightly. I sighed, unable to deny her request. "Fine, you can come." The Princess grinned, getting out of her seat and leaning towards me. "Thank you Jack." She said softly before kissing my cheek. I felt a smile form across my stitched lips as the teen happily skipped out of the dining room. Standing quickly, straightened my tie and followed. "Jack! You haven't eaten your breakfast!" The Mayor shouted as I walked through the double doors. "It's all yours Mayor!" I replied before chasing after my future queen.
