Jack's P.O.V:

A nervous wreck. That's the only way I could describe it. I, Jack Skellington was a nervous wreck. Two weeks after Sally and I had gotten together after my "Christmas" phase, the mayor of Halloween Town came to me. "Jack," he began. "You know I think of you as a son to me. Just as any father, I want you to be happy, but I also want the right thing for you. I have taken it upon myself to find you a wife." "Well look no further, Mayor. I have found my bride." I said proudly, looking at Sally. The Mayor's face switched from pleasant to disappointed. He sighed and looked at me with sorrow in his eyes.

"What is it Mayor?" Sally asked, holding my hand tightly. "I'm sure you'd make a lovely Queen, Sally, it's just... I'm not sure how to say this." The Mayor took a shaky breath, collecting his thoughts. "You need someone of noble blood to call your wife. Sally, sadly does not fill this requirement." I raised an eyebrow. "Then who does?" I asked. The Mayor's face switched again. "An honorable young maiden will be arriving within the week. Until she is here, it might be best if you stopped seeing Sally." The Mayor said, completely avoiding my question.

He bowed slightly, turned on his heel, and went to his car. I looked at Sally to see she was no longer holding my hand. "Sally-," I began but she shook her head. "I understand Jack. This is for the good of the kingdom." She said softly. "Sally, this is absurd. I want you to be my wife." She gave a half hearted smile. "And I want nothing more than that but you heard the Mayor. I do not have the skills to be your queen. There is someone out there who is better suited for the position."

"But I love you Sally." I said, taking a step toward her. She took a step back, looking into my eyes. "And I love you Jack, but I agree with the Mayor. This is the right course of action." I sighed in defeat, knowing I couldn't change her mind. "I might be bound to marry someone else, but please know, you will forever be the keeper of my heart Sally." She smiled softly and leaned forward. She kissed my forehead lightly then walked away, slipping into town.

The distant sound of horns dragged me back to the present. I stood in front of my palace, the people of Halloween Town beside me. The Mayor was smiling, straighting his spider bow tie. I loosened my own tie, trying to calm down. Although I did not care much for the young woman who would become my wife, I did want to impress her. Breathing deeply, I watched as a black carriage came towards my palace. It was being pulled by large sleek black horses.

Following behind the carriage was a small army I assumed to the be the maiden's knights and guards. The horses came to a stop and I saw the Mayor shaking out of the corner of my eye. I inhaled deeply, trying to steady my own nerves. A boy around the age of 19 came forward from the small crowd behind the carriage. He opened the door and held out a hand. A paler hand took his and he helped a girl out. Once she was outside of the carriage and standing with her head high, the boy dropped to a knee, kneeling before her.

"I present to you, King Jack, the Princess Scarlet Adams."
