~~ Fireflies ~~

"Tristan, no, I'm not talking to you if you don't tell me what surprise you are planning!" Marian puffed her cheeks like an adamant little child.

"If I tell you the surprise, how will it remain one?" Tristan rolled his eyes talking sane, because the other girl was insane.

"But... But...I wanna know." She fumbled with those words.

"I assure it's worth your wait."

"And if I don't like it?" Marian asked plating the creases of her top.

"I'll make upto it." Tristan winked closing up their distances a placed a kiss on her burning red cheeks. If people saw her, they would actually believe how hard people could blush. The reason for the blush was their proximity though. She would never get used to that proximity, even with the years that they'd spent together. It still made her feel goosebumps.

A grin flashed on his face seeing her cute blush. She was totally worth everything. She looked as someone had baffled her in a cute little way, which was worth being baffled. She was worth him, and this surprise, and everything else good that he had to offer to her.

The one to do so was no other than Tristan.

He had plans waiting up her his treasured girlfriend. Plans that were surely enough make the outspoken and sure Marian stammer and lose her composure without fail! That was the confidence he had placed on himself. He exactly knew what he had to do to leave her speechless.

While Tristan was happy about it, Marian was equally displeased.

She never had a liking for surprises.

She liked planning them, but didn't like herself being the one not knowing what was on!

For there, her complexes started working.

She was eager to know. But not knowing how to, she gave up for the while, leaving Tristan to decide and dedicate whatever he wanted to present her with.

Sigh! The feeling of helplessness was disappointing.

Marian was gaping at those twinkling lights, shining like fireflies in the sky to let of her curious anxiety.

"Marian, come here!" Tristan called for her, but just like she'd been before, she was adamant.

"No. Why don't you tell me the surprise?" She puffed her cheeks yet again.

"Come on Marian! Stop being such a baby, and come with me." Tristan pulled her by her forearms.

She was busy near the window looking at the twinkling stars, looking like fireflies scattering over.

"You are not bulling me?" She asked, expectant.

Tristan rolled his eyes, feeling stupid.

Was Marian on drugs or something? Which boyfriend bullies his girlfriend by giving her surprises?

He frowned.

"Are you high on something?" He quirked.

"Uh-uh!" She shook her head.

"Then what's wrong with your head?"

"I don't know maybe."

"Shut up, and come along now!" He barked at her because he was irritated and she gave up ruining his pretty surprise. He felt bad for snapping at her, but well, she was being unreasonable. How would a surprise be a surprise if he informed about what it was?

"Okay." She followed.

"Stay quiet." Tristan instructed, as they sat on his bike, and she sat astride.

"Okay." She whispered back.

Tristan chuckled mentally. His snapping had worked! Finally Marian was listening to him, that too quietly, and not displeased about him arranging a surprise without telling her as well. Even if she was, she was not showing it. He felt bad about the snapping on the special day, but he wouldn't show that. Not yet.

Maybe she could have forgotten what it was, but he never could. The day was imprinted in his mind like forever.

He felt special, thus was initiating to making her feel special as well.

As the bike came to a halt, in midst of silenced darkness and misty cool breeze, Marian and Tristan got down.

"Here? What is it?" She asked as curiosity framed her tone. Her eyes were already glistening with excitement!

"Wait, to see." Tristan chuckled, and pulled out a blindfold from his denim's pocket.

"These?" She made a sad face.

"Yes, these."

She turned around silently, and closed her eyes, as he expertly fastened the blindfold.

"Okay, now grab my hand, and move slowly." He advised and she nodded.

"How far is it?" She asked.

"Just a bit away. I'm here. So, no worries." He held her hands, in between his.

After walking a few paces, they finally came to a stance.

"We're here." Tristan whispered.

Marian impulsively got rid of the fold, and looked at the view in front of her.

It was dark and things seemed to be glowing! They were glowing with florescent light. And then she realized it were those little fireflies that she'd been trying to locate all her evening. Fireflies that twinkled in the darkness of the night, and made the leaves of the tree look as if they were twinkling. They were like the twinkles on the sky, in the open, barren, unhindered land.

Her hands found their ways to cover her mouth as she looked at them in awe.

"Liked it?" Tristan spoke in murmurs.

"Like? Where did you find this? And why?" She looked dazzled by the surprise.

"Today was the day, when you made me realize that there were different views to the world not all are correct, but all aren't wrong either." He spoke, as intimately possible.

Her eyes widened as she looked directly into his orbs. Her heart fluttered. He remember things like that? She never knew.

She was the cause of bringing about these positive changes in the man of her life. The fireflies created a brightened halo around them, as she took and engulfed into a hug. He just hugged back, nuzzling his nose on her shoulder.

"I love you, and I loved the fireflies." She whispered.

"All the same here." He reciprocated, as they enjoyed the twinkles of the fluorescent light, in the midst of the darkness surrounding them, along with love.
