I waited two hours for him to finally pass out drunk. I kicked him a couple times out of anger and to make sure he was really asleep. I wrote a note on my bed that said, “I know what you did to her.” I grabbed my bag with my money and walked out the door. I walked down the sidewalk all the way to the air port. I was saving up so I could visit my dad for a while. I guess now I would hopefully stay there. I paid for my ticket and waited for them to let me board. After an hour, I finally got to board the plane. I sat by the window staring deep into the night. A man with light brown hair who looked like he was in his late thirties sat next to me. “It’s my first time,” he said nervously. “Flying?” He shook his head nervously. I laughed and said, “Me too.” He smiled and asked the flight attendant for some peanuts and some water. “Oh by the way I’m Harold,” he said holding out his hand. I shook it and said, “I’m Lola.” “So what brings you to a plane at one-thirty in the morning?” I cleared my throat and said, “Visiting my dad. You?” “Coming home to see my wife. I was on a business trip and she misses me.” I put on my blind fold and fell asleep. I was exhausted.
“Lola,” Harold said tapping my shoulder, “Wake up. We’re here.” Harold’s a really nice guy. Getting on a plane at one-thirty in the morning to see his wife. How sweet. We got off the plane and waited for our bags to come out. Harold saw me pick up my duffel bag and said, “No offense, but that bags makes you seem like you ran away from home.” When I didn’t say anything, Harold said, “Oh, well good luck. I hope you find your dad so you can get some proper rest.” He shook my hand and walked away. I sat down at a nearby chair and called Jeremy. “Hello,” he said sleepily. “Hi Jeremy it’s Lola.” He sighed and said, “Lola, do you know what time it is?” “Yeah I do, I know it’s late, but can you pick me up from the air port?” “…Sure I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.” Since he already knows what Derrick did I didn’t have to explain it to him. I didn’t have the courage to tell him about Derrick raping me. I felt so ashamed. I hung up and waited for him to pick me up.
After fifteen minutes, Jeremy showed up wearing pajamas pants and a grey hoodie. “Lola, I thought you were kidding,” He walked up to me and gave me a bear hug, “Come on, tell me why you’re here.” I grabbed my bag and said, “Long story.” We walked around aimlessly. “So where’re you headed?” “My dads’. I need a place to stay.” He bumped me and said, “Well spend the night at my place to get some sleep, then I’ll blow off school to help you find your dad, or should I say Mr. Peterson?” I laughed and we started walking towards his place. We passed parks, clubs, and buildings. We finally got to his house. We took the elevator to the tenth floor and walked through the third door on the right. His parents’ house was amazing. Beautiful view, expensive things everywhere. They made a great decision moving here. “Wow,” I said. “You get used to it,” he said walking towards his bedroom. His room was cool. It had pictures of bands on the wall and other things. He had a guitar in the corner. He even had a sofa in his room. “I wanna be a rock star,” he said smiling, “Well you can have my bed. I’ll sleep on my couch.” I put on my pajamas as Jeremy turned around. “You can turn around now,” I said getting in his bed, “Thanks again for letting me crash here.” “No problem.” I looked at the ceiling thinking. I really ran away from home. I was really raped by Derrick. Derrick really killed someone. I really made out Derrick. I felt disgusted. I can’t believe I even liked him. I kept thinking ‘Was leaving a note telling him I know what he did smart? Or dumb?’ I turned over and saw Jeremy lying on the couch, snoring his ass off. I chuckled and drifted to sleep.
