Prolouge

"Alexandria Blàr" Marie de Guise said as I walked into her chambers. I had be preparing for this meeting for weeks.

"Queen Regent" I bow to her. She was my best friend's mother, Mary Queen of Scots."you asked for me?"

"Yes, it is time for you to start your job" Marie says walking towards me.

She smiles at me and places one of my brown hair behind my ear.

"We have spent a lot of time and money for your training. You are now ready to go protect my daughter during her reign" she goes back over to the table and grabs a note "You will meet her at a convent in the north of Scotland"

"Yes, Queen Regent" I reply respectively. "I will not disappointed you"

"I believe you won't but if you fail to protect her I will have your head" she threats with a innocent smile placed on her face. "Oh. That reminds me!"

I look at her curiously as her face lights up with remembrance. She comes back to me and puts her right next to mine.

"I forbid you from getting married or bearing children" my eyes widen and I back away slightly. "And if I find out you did I will kill you with your own knife"

Tears trickle into my eyes as I think over about it over a moment.

"So... for your daughter's safety you will take away any of the freedom I actually have?" I ask her.

She nods and takes a sip of wine like this was a normal conversation for her.

"Okay, Queen Regent" I once again say this time it wasn't in the same tone.

"Good, a horse is prepared for you. I have had servants pack your weapons, clothing, they have been sent to the Covent and you may chose personal items. Your Deerhound will have to travel with you"

I thank her and pack out of the room, I run back to my chambers. I swing the door open and usher the two servants out.

I throw myself onto a chested draws and open the bottom draw. I break the base and grab the drawings, necklace and notes out.

A drawing of my family with me, one with my dog and I. Notes from my brother and sisters. A family heirloom I got from my mother, it was a sliver chain with a emerald placed in a sliver cage.

I put it around my neck and draped my cloak over my shoulders.

"I'm a lady of the Queen and her protected. When the time comes her children too" I whisper to myself. "I must always put my life before hers and I'm sworn to secrecy"

"Lady Lexi are you ready to leave?" A servant asks me from behind. I let out a loud sigh and nod.

"As ready as I'll ever be"
