Double update, rare I know...
All I catch is a glimpse of Andrew smashing a familiar blonde girl's head again and again onto the ground, blood pooling all around her body that looked unconscious, before Calum is pulling me back into the room, closing the door behind us quickly. Hadley. I scream and plead for my brother to let me go, so I could rip the man's throat out for even laying a hand on my sister, but Calum's grip was strong against me.
"Let go of me, Calum," I sob, trying to squirm away from him, but he doesn't let up at all. Exhausted after many moments of struggling, I collapse against his tanned body as I cried desperately into his shirt, babbling on about Hadley. I wanted to make sure she was okay. She looked practically dead there bleeding on the floor.
When Calum is sure that I won't strain against him again, he lets go of me. I fall back, crashing into my knees as I wish death threats to the man that dare called himself our savior. How could he do such a thing? That was his own daughter he was beating? But it wasn't just that, no, it was the fact that my mother didn't make a single movement to helping my sister. I was disappointed in the woman. Why couldn't she have the guts to stand up to that monster? He was the one beating her kids, and she stood by and fucking watched.
After my sobs are sufficed, I look to Calum. His tan face paled slightly, his eyes and cheeks puffy from crying. He did the right thing, keeping from going out there. It would have ended so much badly if he didn't. My father was twice my size, and could have easily knocked me out in one blow, no matter how mad I was.
The house was deadly silent, scary silent. Getting up so my feet, I make my way to the door, Calum right behind me as he made sure I didn't do anything irrational. Willing myself for what I could possibly see, I slowly open the door.
From our door, you could have a full view of the kitchen where Hadley was hit. I gasp brokenly as I see the blood pooling into a puddle in the kitchen. Nearby, a pot was carelessly tossed in the floor, blood splattering the bottom. It looked like a horror scene.
I step outside of the door, tiptoeing down the hall. Dad's truck was gone signaling he wasn't here anymore, thankfully. Calum's right behind me as I pass everyone's doors. It was late, almost midnight, everyone should be in bed, but surly who could sleep after what happened?
I notice one of the doors are cracked open, a little bit of light shining through the crack. Hesitantly, I open it all the wide revealing mom crying over a heap on the bed. I gathered that it was Hadley by the way there was blood seeping through the blankets. I suck in a breath, holding it as I walk closer.
Our mother notices our entrance, but doesn't make a movement of greeting us. Her long blonde hair was falling out of her bun, the stray hairs falling in her face and sticking to her face from the tears. She looked like a mess, her clothes stained red.
I didn't want to ask the question that was both on Calum and I's mind, but I had to know. I needed to know, "I-is she d-dead?"
"No. Not yet at least, and hopefully won't be untill a very very long time. We just got to keep an eye on her, that's all," our mom responds tensely. I nod in understandment. The woman whispers to herself, barely above a whisper, "If only she was paying attention to the stove. This wouldn't have happened."
"This wouldn't of happened if you would have stood up to your fucking husband," I scream, immediately regretting it as my mother gave me a deadly look.
"You don't know what you're talking about. You don't know anything, Luke. If I even dared lift a finger to the man, he'll take all of you away to God knows where. He'll make my life a living hell," she hisses.
