I let out a loud sigh, which hurt me to do. It hurt me that I'd be confined to this old, dusty town forever, and there was no way that I was going to be able to change that now. The worst part in all of this is that I was way too hopeful. I expected the best, but all I got was the worst. Lauren, the person who brings me to life every day, denied to bring me on tour as her opening act. I didn't know how to react, because if I were to say something, tears would spill out immediately. Instead of leaving the room, I just dropped my head in shame. At least I had the chance to try.

"Camila." Lauren said, causing me to look up at her. "You didn't let me finish. I don't think you're suited to be my opening act, because I think you deserve much more than that. You have such a unique, raspy voice that belongs to no one but you. I want to give you your best chance by making you known by the community of the world. What I'm trying to say Camila, is that I want you to join my act."

My jaw dropped to the floor at these words. "J-join your act?!"

"Yes. I want to move on from being a solo act. I'd like it if you were to join me on tour in a duet. However, it won't only be for the tour, it will be for as long as your heart desires. Your talent just can't be wasted, Camila, and by joining me, everyone will know who you are." Lauren explained.

I fell to my knees in shock at the offer. This was it! I would actually leave this town! It was going to have a population of 464 by the time that I left the next day. Most important of all though, Lauren chose me to perform not before her, but with her for the rest of her career.

"I-I accept!" I exclaimed, then thinking of something pertaining to actual paperwork. "But how will this go over with your record company? Would they want you to do this?"

"They proposed it a while ago, actually. My manager approached me one time to ask me if I wanted to add someone to my act in order to gather more fame and popularity. Since I met you just a few short hours ago, I've already seen that spark in your eyes and the talent that you have. In that time, you've also proven your loyalty to your family, which I can't say about anyone else that I've met. You're perfectly suited to join me, and I'm so glad that I can have you alongside me. So tell your family, pack your stuff, and we'll be all set to leave tomorrow when the car is fixed." Lauren told me.

I jumped back up to my feet and did a little dance. This was so exciting, and all of my dreams were about to come true. I waved to Lauren, then busted out of the room to go and tell my family and Normani about what was going to happen. My mom and Normani were both chatting with each other at the front desk, and that was when I decided that I wanted to trick them into thinking that I didn't get it. I walked with my head down, and I could tell that they were assuming that something was going wrong.

"How did it go?" my mom asked, waiting for an immediate answer.

I lifted my head with a fake frown that kept twitching because of how happy I was internally. This made me look like an idiot, and the two started to laugh to themselves.

"What's so funny?" I asked them.

Normani replied, "The look on your face! You got it didn't you?"

I changed the tone of my voice and replied, "No, I didn't." There was a long pause, and the two just stared at me in confusion. "Because she wants me to join her in a permanent duet act! Guys! I can finally get out of here and live my dreams!"

The two jumped for joy and embraced me together to form a group hug. This would be one of the last hugs that I shared with them both before I left to go to California with Lauren, or wherever we were going. She still had to find her, or our, opening act to perform for us. So I guess that meant that we'd be traveling to New Mexico next. That would be exciting! Traveling the country to find an opening act, being able to see all of the different states before Lauren and I perform for them.
