Demi walked down the street towards her best friend's house. It was dark out and she knew that she shouldn't have been out this late, but it was the best way to avoid the paparazzi.Reaching his house, she knocked on the door loudly hoping for him to answer it quickly. She was cold and she had to use the bathroom too. As soon as he opened the door, she rushed to the bathroom.. She knew the way around his house, she'd been here plenty of times before. After using the bathroom, she walked out and towards the living room where she saw him standing confused. Smiling sweetly she said "Hi"
"Hey Demi, you wanna tell me why you here so late? It's 1AM." He sat down on the leather couch, patting a seat next to him.
Sighing, Demi took a seat next to Wilmer bringing her legs up on the couch after taking her shoes off.
"I broke up with Joe" she said in a hushed tone.
Not knowing how to react, Wilmer simply hugged her "Oh Demi, I'm sorry!"
Demi got comfortable in his arms, laying her head on his shoulder and wrapping her arms around his torso, "I know... But it was what was best for us"
Wilmer knew that they had been dating for two years, why had they broken up so abruptly? Why had she broken up with him? He wanted to ask her, but he couldn't bring himself to do so. He just simply brushed her hair back, kissing her forehead. The next morning Demi woke up in Wilmer's bed, but he was no where in sight. No, they hadn't slept together, she was simply too tired to go home and had fallen asleep in Wilmer's arms, he had brought her up to his room, and he was probably downstairs. She moved the covers from over her, and made her way downstairs.
Wilmer was peacefully sleeping on the couch with a thin blanket over his body. He looked cold, all cuddled up like a ball. She walked over to him and shook him slightly "Wilmer, wake up" Without saying anything, he turned the other way and continued to sleep.
Sighing, Demi walked back to Wilmer's room, pulling out a white t-shirt from his chest of drawers and stripped down her clothes, only left in her underwear. She pulled the shirt over her head and grabbed a pair of his boxers, wearing them as shorts. She placed her clothes neatly on the now made bed and walked down the kitchen where she would try and attempt to make breakfast.
Wilmer could smell fresh pancakes in the air, he stretched his arms out and sat up looking around the room.
He walked into the kitchen and leaned against the door frame as he saw Demi with his t-shirt and boxers on. He chuckled slightly grabbing her attention.
Demi turned around to look at him, holding her hand to her chest. "Wilmer! You scared me!"
He chuckled again and walked to her, "Sorry Dem's" He said as he placed his hands on her upper back watching her cook the pancakes.
"How many do you want?" Demi grabbed a plate and placed all the pancakes on it and walked to the fridge to grab the bottle of milk.
Pretending to think he then said, "Just five!" he laughed.
Shaking her head, she giggled, "Okay!"
Taking a seat on one of the stools at his breakfast bar, he started eating his pancakes and drinking his glass of milk, "So how are you feeling today?"
"I am feeling better. It's hard though, two years together and now it's over" She shook her head slightly.
He nodded, "Yeah I understand how you are feeling Demi. I know it will be hard, but like you said its for the best." He continued eating his pancakes.
Demi smiled softly as she stood up, taking her plate to the sink. It wasn't long before she felt a pair of strong arms around her waist.
Wilmer leaned his head on her shoulder and held her close, resting his head on her shoulder.
She enjoyed spending time with Wilmer. Yeah, they flirted a lot and couldn't keep their hands off of each other, but she knew they were just friends. They had been for such a long time that when they touched, it was normal.
Still resting his head on her shoulder, he inhaled her vanilla scent. He had known Demi for such a long time, he had always thought she was beyond beautiful and a sexy women but it never occurred to him the idea of them dating. But right now having her in his arms, her being single... he also being single... he felt like he wanted to start something new with Demi.
Demi noticed the sudden quiet and his grip growing stronger around her waist. Not wanting to ruin the moment, she laid her head against his chest, and placed her hands on his arms. "What are you thinking about?"
Being completely honest, he whispered against her soft dark hair, 'us..." Demi turned around, getting out of his grip. She looked at him,
"What about us?" Wanting to have her in his arms again, Wilmer rested his hands on her waist. "You and me, Demi. Why didn't we ever become a couple?" Demi place her hands on his chest and looked down, not knowing how to answer.
"I know that you just got out of a relationship and that you don't want to get involved with any guy right now, but I want to see where we can go" Without saying anything further, he leaned down and pressed his lips against hers and pulled her closer to him.
Demi didn't know how to respond to the kiss. It was sudden. But there was something that pulled her closer to him. She brought her hands up to his hair and responded to the kiss, pulling herself closer, if that was even possible.
Wilmer pulled away hesitantly, he was breathing heavily, "So... you & me.. dinner tonight?" he asked, with hope.
Eagerly, Demi nodded smiling, still holding him tightly.
Demi looked herself in the mirror and fixed her hair slightly. Her short curls looked fine, but she felt like there was something else she had to do. She straightened her dress. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her purse and her keys and headed off to the place Wilmer had told her to meet him at.
Pulling up by the beach, she smiled as she walked out of the car and saw Wilmer patiently standing by her parking space, a rose in hand.
He saw her step out of the car and smiled brightly. He walked towards her, "You look beautiful" He handed her the rose and linked his arm with hers, leading her towards the beach.
She smiled to herself and brought the rose up to her nose to smell it. She didn't realise that they had stopped walking until she heard Wilmer clear his throat. She looked up and saw a small table with two plates and a single candle in the middle. She looked at Wilmer, "Wow.." was all that she could manage to say.
Demi sat back on her chair after the delicious meal that she had shared with Wilmer. She laughed a little. "Wilmer that was delicious!" She patted her belly. Wilmer leaned on the now clean table and whispered, "We haven't even had dessert" He winked at her.
Demi could feel her knees go weak. Thank god she was sitting down, she had always found his winks utterly sexy. "Well what's for dessert?" She asked in the same whispered tone.
He stood up and took her hand. "Let us find out" He smiled. Demi smiled and took his hand while holding her heels and purse in the other. She walked with him for what seemed a couple of minutes. They finally reached a cabin looking thing. Wilmer opened the door slightly and Demi gasped. Wilmer smiled at her reaction, he opened the door wider and brought her in, "What do you think?" He asked resting his hands on her waist, standing behind her as she stared at the view.
Demi looked at the bed that was in front of them. It was beautifully covered in roses and there were only a few candles lit up. "Wilmer.." She leaned her head on his chest, "You did all of this just for me?"
He turned her around, making her face him. He looked in to her eyes, "I did this for us.." He whispered. "Be my girlfriend, Demi" He didn't let her respond. He just simply kissed her tenderly. She pulled away reluctantly, "Of course, I'll be your girlfriend" She leaned up and kissed him again, pulling him and making her way towards the bed.
Wilmer smiled into the kiss, never wanting to break apart. She'd given him a chance. He was glad that they had finally looked past everything and came to realise that they were meant for each other. All they needed was a chance.
