Paul walked into the huge party room, the other three Beatles close behind him. It’s not like they couldn’t deal without one another, but Paul needed them to stick together for once. John had even been considerate enough to leave his new girlfriend, Yoko Ono, behind for once. The four of them searched the room for familiar faces, never spotting anyone they knew. Everyone there were the type of people they had always tried to avoid; stuffy oldies in suits that didn’t really want to know you. Suddenly, a tall handsome man walked towards the Beatles, a huge grin on his face. “Hello Beatles! How nice of you to make it!” He greeted them, his manner rather camp. Paul stuck his hand out for the man to shake. “Paul McCartney. These are me mates: John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. And you are?” The man giggled. “I am R.J. Rodgers, Miss Harding’s representative.” Paul became nervous. “Is Louise here?” John asked, sensing Paul’s anxieties. R.J. nodded. “Follow me. She’s just having a photo call with Mr Presley.” The Beatles followed R.J. through the tightly packed crowd. As soon as people noticed who was pushing through them, they began to disperse. They were the biggest rock band on the planet after all.
Eventually, Paul caught glimpse of his lost love. She looked stunning, of course; so much so that the mere sight of her hurt Paul’s heart. She stood close to her co-star, the great Elvis Presley himself, who the four Beatles had idolized as teenagers in Liverpool. Paul frowned when he saw how she laughed at his joke and how she gazed up at him adoringly. John nudged him in the back, urging him to go forward. “We’re right behind you, Paul.” John assured his best friend, with George and Ringo nodding in agreement. The four of them began to walk forward just as Elvis excused himself and walked in the opposite direction. Louise stood virtually alone in a crowd of reporters and cameramen, and she looked so alone. R.J. opened his arms wide in a dramatic as he greeted Louise. “Louise, darling! There you are!” Louise smiled up at him uneasily, air kissing his cheeks like the French do. “I believe you need no introduction to the four men behind me?” He moved out of the way, leaving a space between Louise and Paul, who stood slightly before the other three Beatles. A small smile spread appeared on Louise’s lips as she looked into Paul’s eyes. “No. No introduction is needed here. I’ve known the Beatles since we were teenagers.” The air seemed to electrify between Paul and Louise. It was like you could see the emotions seeping from them; anger, sadness, happiness… and lust. Paul couldn't look away; Louise was even more stunningly beautiful than he remember. “I’ll leave you to it.” R.J. said, sensing the tension. “We’ll bugger off too then!” John said, leading George and Ringo away. Paul shook his head, knowing exactly what they were doing. He looked up when he heard Louise laugh. “They haven’t changed. Not one little bit.” She said, smiling at him. He smiled back, not sure what to say to her. She sensed his uneasiness so took his hand in hers. “Let’s get out of here; we have some things we need to discuss.” Paul just nodded; he was trying to focus on anything but the feeling he got from her touch. She led him from the large function room, down a back corridor and out of the building. They climbed into a waiting limo and sat in silence as they drove into the night.
