October 6th
I had about seven minutes spare before the bus arrived around the corner from my house. I had my warm grey hoodie on that helped me through the winters in Canada. From what I researched from the past few weeks, the winters are insufficiently warmer in England thank god.
"Have you got your purse?" For the past 30 or so minutes, I had my mum following me around the house checking I'd got everything. It was my first day in my new school and my mum was making me nausea before it had even began.
"Yes. Right, I'm leaving. Got a bus to catch." I kissed my mums cheek before leaving the house. Questions occupied my mind as I walked down my street. What are students like in England? Will they like me? What if I embarrass myself on the first day?
"Be safe! Love you!" I heard my mum's voice in the distance. Behind me, she was leaning on the door frame waving. I don't have to worry about embarrassing myself, my lovely mother will do that for me.
"Love you too." I didn't shout as loud as her, but I made sure she heard me.
The bus was late, but only by 5 minutes. It didn't affect me – I was still 30 minutes early to school. In Canada I went to school early every day, but that was mostly because I wanted to get out of the house. I got given my timetable and school information half a month ago when first got a tour of the school. I wasn't completely interested whilst the tour happened so instantly I felt lost after I entered the reception building. Thankfully I had been given a map, which helped me find my first class – English.
Everyone was staring at me once I got through the door. I was aware this could have happened; I was the new child that no one knew. I couldn't open up again, not after last time.
"Ah. This is our new student-" The teacher looked down at the paperwork on her desk, "Kara, right?"
"Yeah." I nodded.
"I'm Mr Miles, I will be your English teacher for the rest of this year." He smiled. "So, Seating plan... Mason's not here, so for today you can sit next to Logan until we find you a proper seat." He points over to an attractive dark brown-haired guy. Thank you, Mr Miles. Logan was staring at the chair in front of him. Not the person, just the chair. You know when you stare when you're deep in thought but you're not particularly looking at anything? It was that type of stare.
I sat down in the empty chair, looking at Logan. "Hi," I said. He snapped out of his gaze and looked at me. He had a smile on his face.
"Hey, I'm Logan!"
"I know." I know? I can't believe I said that - it sounded so creepy.
"You do?" Confusion clouded his face. He was cute.
"Yeah. Mr Miles said your name a moment ago."
Chuckling, he covered his name with his hands. "Oh." He looked at me, "I wasn't exactly listening."
I laughed quickly but didn't say anything. Mr Miles had already started teaching and I didn't want to get in trouble in the first five minutes of the lesson. He handed out worksheets that required us to work in pairs. We spoke about the work, then diverted topic rather fast.
After English class, I had biology. Logan kindly guided me to the lesson. I loved biology, so I was more than excited to enter the class. There was no teacher and only a few students seated, so before I became noticeable I sat in the nearest empty chair I could find.
Not long after, a voice ordered, "That's my seat. Move." A blonde haired girl that leaning over my seat with one hand rested on the arm and the other rested in her hip. Her blue eyes pierced down on me. She was beautiful.
