When I awoke I was strapped to a chair with my arms behind my back and my legs bound together.  I could see the light of candles flickering.  I looked around the stone room and noticed seven other people sitting in a cluster looking at me with worry in their eyes.  I tried to break free from the ropes restraining me but it seemed as impossible as going into space without oxygen.  Out from a darkened corner of the room stepped Edgar.  He appeared to be pealing a potato.  He walked up to me and narrowed his eyes and examined me.  I turned my face and he chuckled.

He paced around the room, not paying much attention to me or the other victims.  I examined the room looking for an escape route.  The only way was out through the door that I must have come in.  The ceiling was solid rock and I obviously couldn’t bust through that.  Suddenly, I remembered my laser gun that was hidden in my sleeve.  I could feel it against my skin, which seemed to be as cold as a frozen fish.  I pushed a button and the laser cut through the thick ropes without difficulty and Edgar didn’t notice.  Whenever he wasn’t looking I snuck up behind him and kicked him behind the knees causing him to collapse.  I forced him back into a corner and managed to get the flask that Aaron had lent me readied in my hand.  I tossed a young girl my keys and told her and the others to unlock the door and evacuate the castle.  Everyone cooperated and was out the front door in minutes.  Edgar had taken a fall when I forced him onto the corner of the room and was woozy he was on anesthesia.  I managed to get some spare ropes and tie him up.  I called the local police and they made it to the castle in an instant.

I walked outside to find families reunited and police coming to question me.  I explained who I worked for and why I was here like I was giving a speech.  I reclaimed my keys from the young girl that had used them and she thanked me with a heartwarming hug.  I waved farewell to the small crowd and walked back to my bike as casually as I could.  I glanced down at my watch to find that it was already 3:00 AM and I had a family to get back to myself.

I walked through the door and was greeted by Bianca.  She gave me a hug like a princess.  Rachael entered the room and forced a smile.  I picked up Bianca and walked her upstairs to spend some time with her.  She looked at my wrist noticing a trace of irritation from the ropes.  She looked very muddled but decided not to mention it.  It reached her bedtime, so I brought her to her small room.  I tucked her in as gently as I could and wished her magical dreams.  Just before I turned off the lights her heard her whisper to me, “I love you, Venus,” like it was her first words.  I smiled and turned off the lights and closed her door silently.

I had managed to finish yet another mission and somehow made it back in one piece.  As I sat at my desk painting I started at the stars that decorated the sky like it was a dark canvas.  I realized that my life was never going to be a fairytale.  No matter how hard I tried there would always be struggles.  I would always have hope and help those in need.
