The soft chimes of your music locked echoed throughout the filthy brig. Your sense of gravity was abolished by now, making you lean against the back wall of your cell. Mice ran about your feet, eager to find food. Through a small porthole, you saw the sunset, providing an orange ray of light in the room. The clamor of footsteps, shouting and different actions pounded from the upper deck, giving you a headache and a painful longing for freedom.
You were in the Black Pearl, being held prisoner - no, being held as their most powerful weapon, afraid that you might vanish in their time of need. They expected you to obey their every command, to do their bidding without hesitation or falter. They didn't know what demons they would unleash when they released you from your pitiful, mortal cage. They expected you to aid them with murdering your lover, the only man who ever had your heart.
Davy Jones. He was once a loving, passionate, adoring undertaker of the seas. Every ten years you would be waiting for him, and every ten years he would come to you, like a robin to its evergreen, like blood to the heart. You would spend the day with him, cherishing every moment, carrying the memories through the wind to remember until his next return. On that single day of every decade, you would cease to rain, you would calm the seas, you would let the sun come out to shine upon his face. He was the man who loved you, and he would be the only man to ever love you.
Still, as everything in creation does, he changed. Because of your foolishness. You wanted the island on which he would visit you to spring with flowers and beauty; you let the rain pour upon the ground, calling out to Gaia to plant her fruit into it. She did not listen, however busy or just ignorant to your love for Davy. You cursed her, convinced Zeus to make her creations die after time, limiting the lives of her worshipers. She, in vengeance, compacted you into a weak, mortal form, and threw you back to earth in a swamp. Again you called out to Zeus to help you get back to the island in time to see your lover, but he refused. Instead, he marked you with words on your skin. "Calypso, you are bound to this mortal form. Only until you contain the nine pieces of eight, and your lover releases you, shall you return to your waters."
And when they day had passed, you knew his heart had been betrayed. He was now a heartless monster, but, nonetheless, one you loved to the edge of the world.
Going through these bitter, antagonizing memories of sweeter days, you felt all hope in you die with the fading chimes of music. You gently shut the locket, praying that you would at least be released to the ocean soon.
However, somewhere in the brig, the melody continued. The tone was softer, sweeter, echoing throughout the room, and you began to hear footsteps draw near. The smell of death filled you with longing; the sight of green deformity filled you with love and tenderness.
"Davy Jones." you whispered, a sorrowful, joyous smile upon your lips. "You've come for me at last."
The creature faced you with sternness in his eyes. His tentacles twisted with a light fury a the way you said his name; as if everything was not lost. As if you thought that the mere sight of his lover could bring him to his knees, begging you to leave with him so he could release you. His heart, locked away in a chest on the Flying Dutchman, pulsed with anger, grief, and desire. He was infuriated at you for vanishing that one day, but he had an eternity to make you regret and shun your actions before he would forgive you.
