Chapter 6 ~ Perhaps I do
''It's fine. You can keep it.'' Stiles joked with a smile that reminded Nova of a playful dog.
''Good that, I have nothing else to wear anyway.'' She chuckled softly, hoping that Stiles truly wouldn't mind it if she'd hold onto it for a little bit longer. The material of it, combined with the strong scent that came off of it were warm to Nova.
The two of them then turned silent. Stiles felt his entire body aching for more information about her, but he had no idea how to subtly bombard her with his questions. Instead of wasting another second in silence, the kid cleared his throat loudly.
''So.. I had to Google it.'' He saw her frown, causing him to quickly continue, ''Heart arrhythmia. Even if you would have it, which I doubt, you can live with it.''
She allowed him to finish his sentence before her voice jumped in, ''How do you know about heart arrhythmia? Stiles.. I never told you.'' She murmured, pulling out the grass as she sat in front of him.
''Oh. Um, yes. About that- I might have peeked through that gigantic book of yours when you went to the toilet.'' He let out a desperate chuckle. Stiles had been too curious that day and now he only hoped she wouldn't get angry over such a little thing.
''Ah, I see. Well, it was just something that caught my eyes. Pure curiosity, nothing for you to worry about.'' She replied, scratching the skin beneath her nose as she spoke.
Stiles kept a stable frown on his face, ''Which of the symptoms do you have?''
Nova shook her head, surprised by how determined Stiles seemed to be to get answers. She then smiled widely to show that she was right about fine, but he didn't believe her. He kept looking at her until she would reply.
''There's the chills, night sweats and then there's the constant dizziness.''
It took her a lot to respond to his question. She didn't want to be so honest with him, because she knew that he would be worried. The more she said, the more drama would be created.
''We should go with it to the hospital.'' Stiles suggested, appearing so calm while he felt triggered from the inside.
''Yes, because it's not like I have spent most of my time in the hospital anyways. Besides, it's fairly easy to explain my symptoms. For example, it's autumn so of course I will have chills. Night sweats I had for as long as I can remember and the dizziness is caused by the malfunctioning of my vestibular.''
Stiles sighed, he believed that he could easily win this minor argument but that would mean he would have to start raising his voice- He didn't want to scream to her or do anything that will give her the idea that he's angry with her.
''So? A symptom is a symptom. You can't be the only one on earth who ever suffered from this.''
''Nor will I be the only one who was able to live with these slightly uncomfortable things. Say we went to a doctor who then told us I didn't suffer from heart arrhythmia. What do we then?'' She said as her eyes started leaking emotion. Against her will, her frustration was noticed by Stiles who immediately felt touched.
''We keep trying.'' He said, shrugging his shoulders casually. He hadn't looked away from her for the smallest second, and the moment that she looked back into his eyes was finally there. The millisecond that it lasted, Stiles felt a rush of adrenaline floating through his veins. ''We might need to be patient, but we'll figure it out.''
''Okay, but what if we can't? We are simply a bunch of teenagers, we are incapable of so much. And you guys cannot just search the woods every evening for me.''
