Chapter 2
Sage was the first to arrive at the bar. She parked the sliver Audi R8 in a vacant parking space. It was her husband’s car. He loved fast sport cars. However, she didn’t. She hadn’t found a reason to get rid of it. She liked the fact that it had a history she and Luke shared together. She just didn’t speed in it. After the accident, she has been afraid to go past sixty.
After her hair and makeup check, she took her black handbag from the seat and climbed out of the car. She took one-step then realized she didn’t hit the lock on her keychain. She hit the lock and resumed to walk to the bar.
She wore a strapless black lace top with dark blue jeans that hugged her curves perfectly. Her top revealed her small butterfly tattoo located on the right side of her shoulder. Her tattoo has been apart of her since her first year of college. Sarah and Vicki-Rae have one in the same spot. They all had the tats done to symbolize their sisterhood. She had on a pair of opened-toe, wedged black heels that fit her petite feet. She wore her long brown hair in a curly ponytail.
Sage entered Brims and took a seat at the bar. It was only 7:46 p. m. A bartender greeted her with a warm smile.
“Hello, good-looking. What can I get for you, beautiful?” He asked with a smile on his chubby face.
“I’ll have a glass of white wine, thank you.” She smiled politely at the chubby man.
A man took a seat right next to her. He was very handsome. He noticed Sage as soon as she entered the bar. He looked at Sage and smiled. The bartender came back with her drink.
“Here you are darling.” He smiled.
“Thanks.” She picked up the wine glass and took sip.
The bartender asked the man what he wanted to drink. He stepped away to prepare his drink.
Sage noticed the man was still watching her from the corner of her eye. She placed her wine glass down in front of her. She pretended to be fascinated by what was playing on the flat screen TV. She could feel his eyes on her. She turned and looked at his face. They both locked eyes. Sage was getting goose bumps. She snatched her gaze from him and picked up her wine glass. She took another sip placing it back down.
What was that? She questioned herself silently. She had a puzzled look on her lovely face.
The bartender came back with the man’s drink.
“Here you are, pal. Is there something else you request?” The bartender grinned at him.
“Not right now, Duke. Thanks for the scotch and put her drink on my tab.” He smiled.
“That won’t be necessary, but thank you.” She replied nicely.
“Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?” He leaned closer to her.
“Sure, Duke did when I took a seat at his bar.” She smiled at the bartender.
Duke laughed and went on servicing other paying customers.
“Well, let me be the second tonight. You are breath-taking.” He smiled showing his small dimple located on his right jaw at the corner of his mouth.
“Thank you.” She smiled nervously.
“Are you here alone?” He asked taking a drink from his glass.
