The Shot

"I wouldn't" she said, as she saw me reach for my gun.  "What happened to you Cassidy?" I asked with concern.  "This happened" she said pointing to the dead world around her.  "I came to my senses, this world is dead, my old self is dead, and so are you" she said a shot went off.  But I was clean, no blood on me.  I turned as I saw Cassidy tumble to the ground.  "Hey!" I screamed as I saw the General walk from behind a car.  "Cassidy! Stay with me!" I was screaming, she may have tried to kill me but I wasn't going to let one of my best friends die.  I pulled out a knife and jumped at the General.  He jumped from behind the car to on top of the car.  He jumped down, bringing his fist across my face.  Anger flooded my face as I pulled my gun on him.  "Now, I wouldn't get to craz..." Before he finished I shot him in the hip, he fell.  I wasn't sure if he was dead or not.  But I grabbed Cassidy, who still had a faint pulse, and carried her away.  I ran... Faster than I had ever ran before.  Past a pack of 20 Biters.  I was being chased by a couple but I was safe as I approached Alex's house and saw Alex and James at the door, smiling.  I raced to them with her lifeless body. "Nick!" Alex screamed seeing the blood and the body.  "Get her inside!" James yelled.  All I can remember the thoughts running through my brain as Cassidy lied on the table, blood all over her.  It was one of those times, when I was actually scared of blood.
