(A/N: look! I posted in a decent amount of time! See? See? Aren't you proud of me? Also can we please appreciate Phil's new baby video? Like, adorable.)
"I can smell them."
Fate glared at the two boys in front of her. She looked between the two, knowing both of them in more depth than they knew themselves. She sniffed the air. "Dead bodies? Working a case, are we?" She asked, hating the two of them there when she was supposed to have killed one of them.
Dan pulled a knife from his waistband. "Okay, crystal ball. Time to tell us what you know."
Fate laughed, hard. Dan gripped his knife tightly in his hand, and Phil touched his hand to Dan's biceps to try and calm him down. Fate noticed this, and glanced up at the two boys, no longer laughing. "You're... Together?" She asked, slightly scared. If they'd already gotten together, that meant-
Dan cut her arm, and she cried out in pain. "I said, tell us what you know." Dan yelled. Phil shuffled back, slightly afraid.
Fate stared up at the hunter. "What do you want to know about?"
Dan smiled at the answer. Phil stared carefully at Dan, worried for the poor boy. He was getting angrier and angrier each day. Of course, Dan didn't know that.
"Tell us what you know about our case. Why is Tyler having us hunt it? Where did he take Zoë?" Dan asked, his mouth going a million miles an hour. He couldn't stop himself. Here he was, with thousands of questions, standing in front of the only person who would answer them.
Fate rolled her eyes and looked at Phil. "What do you want to know?" She asked, and Dan sliced her cheek.
"Look at me, bitch!" He screamed. Phil pulled Dan back and out of the bathroom, locking the door behind him.
He ignored the intense banging on the door. "How does this case end?" He asked Fate calmly. She peered up at him, confused. Dan's been evolving into his demon at an alarming pace, but Phil? Well, he was more or less human. It was strange.
"Bloodily." She responded.
"Who's blood?"
"Everyone's."
Phil nodded, turning to confront the angry Dan, but Fate cut him off. "Don't you want to know why Dan's acting like this?" Phil stopped, and turned around.
His mind wandered and his heart raced. He had no idea what to expect. Dan was a puzzle to him, or, you know, a flamethrower. He was a fireball, a time bomb ready to explode. "You know?" He asked her.
She smirked. "Sit with me, and I'll tell you."
Maybe she wouldn't have to kill Dan, after all.Phil walked out of the bathroom noiselessly.
"What the fuck was that, Phil?" Dan jumped up to where he'd been sitting on the bed for an hour. Phil ignored him, and opened his laptop on his bed. "You fucking pushed me out of my own interrogation. We could've had something done by now!" Phil continued to search the web for anything that would connect the victims, ignoring Dan in the process. "Are you fucking deaf? Answer me!" Nothing but the tapping of keys and the clicking of buttons. "You know what? Fine, but don't expect things between us to ever be the same again." Dan said. He stormed to the door, but couldn't resist one last look back at Phil, who had stopped typing and just stared at the wall across from him.
Dan couldn't take it anymore. "I loved you, Phil."
And with those last four words, Dan left the room, closing the door behind him.
Phil stared at the wall, tears falling down his cheeks. He couldn't help it, even after all of the things that he learned from Fate, he just couldn't stop. He loved Dan.
But how could he love a demon?Dan found himself alone, at some place called Derek's Pub House. It was loud with the sound of people chatting, the sounds of glasses clinking together or hitting the polished wooden bar. There were yellow lights, young people out to have a good time.
And then there was Dan.
He tipped his whiskey all the way back, drank it all in one gulp. He was sad, disappointed, upset, everything. He raised his hand up to signal the bartender, who came over with a sad look on his face.
He refilled Dan's glass. "Bad breakup?" He asked, and Dan chuckled slightly.
He downed the whiskey. "You could say that." The bartender frowned, pouring a few shots of liquor for the poor boy.
Dan sighed, gladly accepting one of the glasses from the bartender. "What happened?" He asked, and Dan shook his head.
"We work together with the F.B.I. We were interrogating a witness who was withholding information, and he pulled me out of the room and locked the door. He switched the mic off, and has a good hour long conversation with her. Then, he refuses to tell me anything she said to him, or even talk to me. It's like he's hiding something."
Dan looked up at the bartender with tears in his eyes. The man patted his shoulder. "It's ok, buddy. My advice is, find a pretty young thing, take her home, mess around and try again with him tomorrow." Dan nodded, drinking that last shot. "It's one job, boy. Hell, if he won't tell you what she said, make her tell ya." Dan smiled at the man, knowing he was trying his best. He tossed a fifty on the bar.
"Thanks, sir." Dan said, turning around, and almost bumping into a young girl. "Whoops, sorry." He said, making his way around her.
She laughed lightly. "It's ok, cutie." She winked. Dan felt his jeans go tight. And maybe it was the haze of the alcohol, but she was gorgeous.
He smiled that Dan Howell smile the hunters knew him for, and he held out his hand for her to take. She grabbed it, and he pulled her to him. "Let's get out of here, shall we?" He whispered in her ear with that accent that gets all the girls. She bit her rosy lip and nodded, pulling him out into the street.
The bartender watched the boy in amazement. He'd never seen someone find a hookup so fast.Meanwhile, Phil was at home, tapping on his computer. He opened a link on the women victim's Facebook. In less than a minute, he found the link between the victims.
His eyes widened. He grabbed his phone and texted Dan.
You're not at Derek's Pub House, are you?
Dan?
DAN?!?!?
