I was walking towards the big fountain in the middle of balboa park. It was warm and sunny today. People, tourists rushing by on all sides. My heart beat increased when I saw the black nest of hair, below the crowds sitting on the fountain. Her slender figure looking all around. I ran over to her, pulling her into a tight hug. We pulled apart and sat on the fountain catching up with each other. Suddenly the conversation took a turn.

"So there's another reason why I invited you here today," she said with a certain gravity that forced me to listen.

"What is it Hash," I inquired (hash brown was her nickname).

" I know about the man in the alley," she admitted. My blood ran cold as the scene replayed in my mind.

"How--" I started gravely, but she cut me off.

"Don't worry," she replied lightly, "I'm here to help."

She proceeded to tell me that I was a "Super", and she, herself, was too. Level 4 and top of her class, in a school just for Supers. I was neither Monster nor god, but Super. She told me all about Amara's School for the Gifted and how I had been excepted to attend. This was were I would go, my escape.

"I'm in," I said in conclusion to her speech.

"Slow down champ," she said happily, "first we gotta see what level you are!" Lifting me off me butt, we made our way to the rose garden.

"Okay", she said looking me over,"let's do this."

"Wait," I yelled, "I don't want to hurt you!"

She snickered and charged at me. suddenly I was flat on my back and breathing heavily. I lay there in shock for a good minute. She walked over and pulled me up.

"Worry about yourself," she said.
