I can't help but stare at the door. Its already noon and Marcus still hasn't showed up at work today. Somehow I had a feeling he was gonna skip today. I keep my eyes glued on the door, waiting. The little bell rigs signaling that someone is entering the coffee shop. I quickly adjust myself in case it is Marcus, sadly its only Ethan. Only Ethan??? A couple of days ago I would have been more than excited to see Ethan walk through those doors.

*maybe its because you have more feelings for marcus* the voice inside my head reminds me.

He walks towards the counter with a nervous look on his face.

"Hey what's up?" I try to ease the tension a little

"Hi ummm i can't have lunch with you this week but I was thinking if maybe we could hang out after your done working tomorrow?" I still haven't gotten over his adorable accent! He makes everything sound so....perfect!

"Um yeah sure! Where?" I'm a little upset that I'm going to be eating lunch alone but I can't be so selfish so I try to hide my disappointment with a sweet smile

"My house" his nervous smile is now replaced with a smirk

Those simple words made my heart beat twice as hard. Was he flirting? What are we going to do at his house?? Oh god!! I'm still a virgin! Yeah i know, I'm 21 and still haven't had sex, but I don't know I guess I'm just waiting for the special guy.

*stop over thinking it lizzy, your probably just gonna go there to watch movies*

The voice inside my head is probably right. I realize I haven't replied to his offering.

"Uhh...yeah su-rre" I stutter a lot more than expected

"Great! see you tomorrow then, I'll text you the address" he winks then turns to walk away and I can't help but stare at his ass while he strolls to the door

Ughh even his ass is perfect! What the fuck???

Wait hold up....did he just wink at me??? Holy shit! Did Ethan just wink at me????

When he exits the door, Marcus walks in.

Marcus??

They both exchange awkward looks at the door. Ethan tries his best to give Marcus a smile but he just ignores it and continues to walk towards the counter. His eyes dart to mine. Shit! I forgot I was staring, I quickly look away in the opposite direction. After hours of hoping and praying for him to show up, I never realized how uncomfortable and awkward it would be when he was actually here.

When he finally reached the table he greets me with a simple hello.

"Hey" I say back

"What so is 'pretty boy' not gonna take you out to lunch today?" He emphasizes the words 'pretty boy' and I can tell there's some sort of jealousy in his voice

"No he's gonna be busy all week" he doesn't look at me as I reply, instead he just stares forward at the people enjoying their coffee's

"Great! So let's go get sandwiches!" He says beaming with pleasure already heading towards the door.

I follow right after him as we walk down the street and take a turn at the end.

"Where are we going??" I say realizing that we're gonna be late to work when we get back

"This little diner that I used to go to when I was a kid. Don't worry there's usually no one there so we don't have to wait in line."

We walk in and he was right, this place is deserted, there is literally no one here. we take are seats in the far back.

Marcus orders for me and we sit patiently at our booth waiting for our food to arrive.

After I moment of silence Marcus speaks

"I don't like pickles."

"What??" I ask confused at his random statement

"I don't like pickles. I think they're absolutely gross and I wouldn't eat one even if you payed me!"

"Umm okay...."

"Oh I just thought we were continuing our little game from yesterday night. You know, the one where we tell each other random facts about ourselves?" I smile at the fact the he remembered

"Oh okay well I don't like ketchup."

"Really?" He looks surprised

"Yeah why?"

"Oh, it's just that I thought ketchup was an American thing. Like everyone enjoyed it, but I guess not."

Once we're done Marcus offers to pay and i let him. i compare this diner to the italian restaurant that Ethan usually takes me and the only difference is that its not as fancy or as expensive but the food is just as good.

We start walking back to the coffee shop when I finally build up the courage to ask him why he was late to work.

"Sooooo what happened this morning that made you late for work?"

"Family problems."

I can tell by the tone of his voice that he's angry and i know this conversation isn't gonna end well.

I awkwardly look down at my feet not knowing what to say next as we approach the coffee shop. When I look down I notice that Marcus's knuckles are cut up and swollen and without thinking I quickly reach down to grab them. I bring them closer to my face to get a better look.

"What happened??" I look up at him to search his face for answers but all I see is anger.

He quickly takes his hands out of my grasp

"Nothing! Just leave it." He storms into the coffee shop and I quickly run after him.

Did he get into a fight? Does this have to do with his "family problems" that made him late to work??
