Out To The Movies

For the past month Ethan has been visiting me at work. We usually just go and get lunch together. I don't know if he just comes here on the days that I work, or if he comes here every day. maybe I should ask Marcus.

"Hey um Marcus.."

Right when I was about to ask him I hear my name being called from behind me. I know that voice that sweet yet calm voice. I quickly turn around to see a beaming Ethan.

"Hi!!" I say while greeting him with a hug. "Just in time!"

When we pull away I wait for Marcus to greet Ethan, but he doesn't, he never does. He always acts weird when Ethan's around, kind of like he's jealous. Jealous?? Why would Marcus be jealous? Whatever I really don't have time to ask him anyways since Ethan is tugging on my arm for me to go get lunch with him. I finally give in as we're practically running outside the coffee shop.

"So how was your day so far?"

"Good! Yours?"

Once we arrive at this little Italian restaurant a few blocks away, we make small talk until are food arrives.

"Good huh?" He brags and fills his mouth with food. I nod and do the same.

As we walk back to the coffee shop I can see Ethan is eager to say something but I don't want to pressure him so I just stay quiet and let him do it at his own time

"So I have a question..." The start of his sentence gets me worried, i don't know why though

"Okay...." I say unsure of what he might say next

"I was thinking maybe we can go and watch a movie tonight, just us two." He smiles nervously

The last part sends butterflies through my stomach. Is he asking me out? Realizing he is, i start to blush and right when I'm about to say yes I remember that I was suppose to hang out with Jenna tonight and my excited smile soon gets replaced with a frown. As if reading my mind Ethan asks,

"Do you have plans tonight?"

"Yeah, kind of. I was suppose to hang out with Jenna tonight"

"Oh don't worry about her" he says with a smirk while pulling his phone out if his pocket to show me the text messages between him and Jenna and they read:

He texted "hey so is it okay if I bring your best friend to the movies tonight?" I can't believe he actually asked her for permission

She later then replied with: "you mean lizzy? Yeah Of course! As long as you pay for it ;) you two have fun tonight!"  

And with that he tucks his phone back into his pocket and looks at me saying,

"So do I have a date tonight to the movies?"

I giggle as I respond  

"Yes!"

*Later That Night*

"2 tickets to the lucky one please" Ethan says while handing the cashier a 20

As we walk down the hall i Later on I realize that Ethan chose a cute romantic movie, awww!

"Need anything?? Candy, drink?"

"No I'm good!" I try to say sounding as sweet as I could even though I was craving a bite of snickers

"Suit your self, but I'm getting some coke"

Once he gets his drink and is about to pay he looks at me one more time as if making sure that I was sticking with my decision of not getting anything and that's when I said,

"We'll maybe I can have one chocolate bar..." I let my sentence trail off full of embarrassment. I don't like using other people's money.

"That's my girl! Which one?"

"Snickers"

As we get to the theater the trailers stops and the lights slowly fade away until its pitch black and all you see is a bright screen.

We're halfway through the movie when Ethan asks to have a bite of my snickers.

"On one condition"

"And what is that??" His voice full mischief

"You let me have a drink of your coke"

Relieved he then said "deal!"

While exchanging treats I almost let the coke fall but then manage to catch it before it spilled

Smooth lizzy just when you thought you couldn't have been anymore of a dork.

We sit still for the rest of the movie and make remarks on the cheesy love lines every once in a while but later on keep are talking at a minimum since we already got told of twice.

We arrive in front of my apartment and I start to tense up, is he going to declare his love for me like in all the romantic movies? Is he going to give me a good night kiss or walk me to my doorsteps?? Part if me wouldn't know how to react if he actually did any of this but part of me hopes that he does. I don't say anything and wait for him to say goodbye first.

Finally breaking the silence he says "I had a really great night tonight!"

"Me too! We have to do it again sometime!!"

"Of course we will, I'm only saying goodbye to you so early because I have to be somewhere really important tomorrow"

"Oh okay, yeah that's fine, well see you later I guess?" I said not sure if it was a question or a statement.

"See you later! Have a great rest of the night!" He said smiling at me while I was walking towards my apartment.

As I settle myself in I sit on my couch staring out my window at the city lights beaming through the night

I zone out and a terrible thought slips through my mind, does Ethan not like me? I get up off the couch and start pacing around my living room. I mean I know it's only been a couple months since we've know each other but he had to develop some kind of feelings for me right?!!?!?

I was a little disappointed that he didn't give me a good night kiss even after watching a romantic movie. However at the same time part of me is a little relieved that he didn't, I like the fact that he's taking things slow. And with that I push the thought out of my mind and head off to sleep.
