I walked to my car, which was parked in the school parking lot. I got in and turned on the ignition; it roared. I looked up and noticed he was still outside; I rolled down the windows and looked at him.

“Well are you gonna get in, or just stand there.”

He stood quiet.

“Look, I have no other choice you’re the only person that I know of that can help me. But its fine, I can do it on my own if you don’t want to.”

I started to motion my hands and feet as if beginning to drive. He sighed opened the car door and got in. I arrived at my grams house and noticed she was home. I got out of my car and walked up to her door and knocked. I slightly pushed the door and realized it was open. Walking in I saw the place was a complete mess. Indistinctively, I noticed a note plastered on her living room mirror.

Confused I yelled, “Grams, where are you is everything okay?”

I heard no answer. I ran to the mirror and ripped the note off, it said:

“Say good-bye to your dear sweet grams, she’s being held captive. We’ve been waiting centuries for this prophecy to be fulfilled, without her knowledge you know nothing. Good luck trying and stopping us. Shall I say ‘Let the battle begin.”

Sincerely,

The Council.☾

I turned to him; tears filled my eyes making my visions blurry.

“I knew I shouldn’t have trusted you, was this the plan all along? Fooling me into thinking you were on my side just to lure me to my grams house to find her missing?”

I started to walk away, trusting him was a mistake. Grams would call me a fool for trusting someone whose family is a part of the council; I’m such an idiot.

“Annabelle wait.”

I ignored him and continued walking to my car. I heard footsteps behind me and knew he was following me, I felt his hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off.

“Let go of me.”

“No, not until you listen to me.”

“I don’t care, what more do you have to say, that “you’re sorry” boo-hoo, cry me a river.”

He then got in front of me but I refused to look at him.

“You don’t have to talk; all you have to do is listen.” I rolled my eyes and waited.

“My father’s orders were to lure you to your grams house but I didn’t know he was going to capture her, I want to help you, but I couldn’t disobey him this time.”

“Then why promise to help me?” I rolled my eyes. “

He threatened to kill my mother, my mother isn’t like us she’s human.”

“Oh.”

He nodded.

Part of me wanted to believe him but the other half was unsure.

“Sigh. If you’re going to help me, you have to be completely honest with me. It’s not only my grams that we’re saving but the faith of humanity is in our hands.”

He put his hands on my chin and slightly lifted my face up, our eyes locked and he softly spoke.

“You can trust me, I promise I won’t do anything to hurt you.”

My cheeks began to turn bright pink and I slightly looked away. From the corners of my eyes I noticed him smiling.

“C’mon let’s go back inside and find some of my grams old journals and all that ancient crap she keeps on seers in the attic, we need all the help we can get.”
