Mouth sat before his bank of computers, monitors and radios staring worried at the stretch on I90 where Page and Kidd had last been seen. Before she left the bunker, she had told him she was going to check a place off the interstate to see if it would be good for the winter. She had promised to report back to him when they got there. That had been five days ago, and now reports from all over Montana were pouring in. The halflings and behemoths all over the state were acting strange. The behemoths were bellowing nonstop in a sad song none had heard before. The halflings were in a state of pure panic screaming only one wood repeatedly. Gallagher. Vivian from Treetop had called saying they had been able to corner Night, but the little halfling was inconsolable as he wailed Gallagher over and over.
Ty had called worried every day for any news. Page's cell was giving the unit out of survive message when called. She was not answering the ham radio ether. Mouth shook his head. None of the explanations he could think of for this turn of events were not good. He feared they might have lost Page and Kidd for good. Nothing else would explain the behemoth and halflings behavior. The door to his room opened and Ashly peeked in.
'We are getting more calls about the halflings.' She said worried. 'It's spreading to the other states. People are getting scared. Mouth nodded sighing. He had one tool left to find the Gallaghers and figure out what was happening. Mouth pressed several switches and pulled his microphone close.
'Okayeveryone, this is the Mouth and I need your help. This message is for anyone oninterstate 90 in Montana between the Clark Fork settlement and Spring Gulch tokeep your eyes peeled for Page and Kidd Gallagher. We have lost contact withthem five days ago. You all know her story and know what she has done. Pleasedo me a solid and report in if you spot our two friends.' He repeated themessage and added a description of the two. Once he clicked off the equipment,he stared at the screen. This had to work. Someone had to have seen her. Ifsomething happened to them, he did not know what he would do. This world wouldnot be the same without the Gallaghers in it.
