Back in town

One day we were talking about the town again and he brought up the fact that he would be going down to the town the next day. I had asked him what he was going to be doing there.

"I have to go, so that I can talk to the people in charge and tell them what's happening at the castle. I have to apologize for taking people and give him a peace offering. Then I'll walk around the town and just help out so that people can know that we aren't against them." He explained, confusingly. But then I thought of something.

"Can you take me?" I asked him, excitedly. "I wouldn't do anything bad or run away, but I want to see the town again."

"I don't know." He said, unsurely.

"Oh, please! I can show you where to go and where the market is! I'll wear a disguise, anything!" I informed him.

"You know - that's a good idea. I wouldn't be against you coming with me." He smiled. "You'll have to ask Giana first, though." I gasped and thanked him, grabbing his hand and running to Gianna's room.

"Gianna!" I practically screamed once we ran into the room.

"Yes?" She called, coming out of her office.

"I have a question." I told her, nervously. "We were wondering - err I was wondering. The prince is going into town tomorrow, and - well - to be honest he doesn't know it as well as I do. And maybe - maybe you'll let me go with him? Oh please please please! I'll be good, you know I will be!" I pleaded.

"Erm-" She stuttered.

"Oh, Gianna, please! I'll wear a disguise! I won't try and escape!"I cut her off.

"I don't see why not." She smiled. "But you'll have to wear a disguise and you can't say anything to anyone you know, and you need to stay away from your home." She told me strictly.

"Thank you!" I shouted. "You're the best!" I hugged her tightly and spun her around. She laughed at me and hugged me back.

"You behave okay? And come down here in the morning like you normally do and I'll give you a disguise." She chuckled. I thanked her again excitedly.

That night I barely slept again. I kept thinking about the town and my friends and my family. I knew I wasn't allowed to talk to them but I just wished to see their faces again.

* Flashback *

I was with my best friend, who I secretly had a huge crush on, Liam. We were horseback riding in the woods, a trail that I had found by myself earlier.

We rode into a clearing and dismounted there.

"It's beautiful." He sighed.

"It is." I agreed, looking through the trees leaves, showing the setting sun. He took my hand in his and we both stood there looking at the sunset. Then he moved so he was standing in front of me, he moved a strand of my hair to behind my ear.

"You're beautiful." He said quietly to me, causing me to blush. He put his arms around my shoulders and he rested his chin on my head, I wrapped my arms around his waist and leaned my head against his chest. "I won't ever leave you." He promised me.

"I won't ever leave you either." I promised him.

* End of Flashback *

I smiled to myself, remembering Liam. I missed him so much but I knew we would be together once again someday. I felt my eyes beginning to close and I fell asleep early in the morning, excited for the day ahead of me.

I looked into the mirror in the morning after Gianna had done my make up, I looked like a completely different person. She had put on a lot of make up on me so I looked very different, and she had given me a new style of dress. It was more lacy and looked more fancy so that I wouldn't look like one of the normal servant girls. It was pink and she straightened my hair and put it in a pony tail, then gave me a pink bow to match.

"Try these." She told me. I raised an eyebrow as she handed me some high heels. I put them on and immediately fell over. I tried to get back up and I walked a few steps, with the help of the wall and beds. I gave her a pleading look, telling her I did not want to wear them. She sighed and handed me some flats instead and I thanked her.

Soon the prince and I were riding into town. There were a few guards with us driving the carriage and they would walk with us around wherever we went.

We arrived in town and I felt 10 times better as I looked outside and saw the familiar business of the markets. I recognized many people, but didn't see my friends or family. We got out of the carriage and I felt like a stranger as I walked around town in these new clothes. People looked at me differently, they wouldn't make eye contact, and everyone bowed as we passed. I didn't like it at all. Niall made his way to the police headquarters to talk to them. I walked in with him but didn't listen to what they were saying. I was watching out the window looking at the people who I used to talk and walk around with. It was quite depressing seeing everyone going on with their normal lives without me.

"Are you ready?" Niall surprised me, getting ready to go after about 15 minutes. I didn't know why but I thought it would take longer. We walked out the door and I bumped into someone.

"Sorry!" The person said, bowing low to the ground. "My fault your highness." He stood back up, looking apologetic and worried. I realized in horror that it was Liam.

"Oh! Don't worry about it! It's fine!" I said, with a weird high pitched voice that I didn't recognize. He smiled gratefully and then walked away quickly. I watched him walk away and walk over to his friends. I watched sadly as they all talked amongst themselves and wished that I could be over there with them. I saw Liam getting awfully close to one of my really good friends, Sophia. He was standing with her and had his arm around her shoulders, then he kissed her. Like on the lips! She leaned her head on him and they stood there together with my other friends. I couldn't believe it.

"You okay?" Niall's voice broke through my thoughts. I realized that I had tears in my eyes. I quickly wiped them away and nodded. I cleared my throat and continued to walk away from my friends.

"Um, so here is the market obviously. There's the houses that way, oh - there's mine - but anyway, there's the dock where the goods get shipped to. They unload the stuff there and bring it to the market. Obviously thats the police headquarters and next door is the court. And then there are woods over there which you can see from your castle. It's a small town." I said really fast and confusingly, I hoped he understood it. He nodded and told me he liked it here.

"I think I'll help them unload that stuff." He told me as he noticed a boat coming to the dock as we spoke.

"I can help." I offered. He looked like he wanted me to be able to help but one of the guards turned me down. He told me it would give away my disguise and it would be better if I just stayed in the carriage. I gave a nod of defeat and got in the carriage, staring blankly out the window watching the people of the town walking around like nothing was wrong. But everything was wrong, my whole world was wrong.
