Aurora
The next morning I arrived to school, Mason and I couldn't walk home today because I told him I had to go to school early. I didn't tell him why though. If I told him I wanted to go early to see Matias. He was going to get mad at me.
As I walked towards my locker, I saw Matias (picture above). I ran towards him, and hugged him.
Matias: "Oh" he said suprised.
Me: "I don't like it when you're mad at me." I said while hugging him tightly.
Matias: "Neither do I." He said while hugging me back. "I've missed you"
Me: "Me too." I smiled at him while letting him go."Can you forgive me? For being so ungrateful to have someone who really cares about me."
Matias: "I forgive you." He smiled.
Me: "Yay!" I hugged him yet again. "oh and guess what?!" I looked up at him with my eyes wide open.
Matias: "Haha, what?" He laughed at my expression.
Me: "I'll be the one that is going to sing today in class for the group performance!" I said excited yet anxious.
Matias: "Really?! That's good! Now I'm really looking forward to it" he laughed. "You're going to blow everyone's mind away!" He gave me a reassuring smile.
Me: "Hopefully not in a bad way..."
Matias: "You'll do great" he said while tapping my head.
I really did miss you, Matias.
I never realized how much your absence affects me. I'm sorry.
We walked to together, and talked about what happened with one another since we got mad at each other. I told him the general version of what happened with me and Mason. I said "We wanted to practice at the park to try something difference, but started raining, and headed to his house. He got sick because of the rain, so that's why he can't sing." If I told him anymore I'm positive he's going to get mad. We just reconciled, I can't risk him getting mad at me again.
When we arrived to class Mr.Brick made an announcement.
Mr.Brick: "Okay students, settle down now. As you may know, our performance project is due today. So, we will begin our class with volunteers. If no one volunteers, I will have to call on people." He said while looking at all of us intendedly. "Now, any volunteers?"
Only two groups people volunteered. Their performances were well orginized, and the lyrics was beautiful.
I became more, and more anxious, as more people performed.
Matias
She was getting anxious, I could tell her by her expression. I grabbed her hand, and looked at her.
Aurora, you'll do great.
I smiled at her so she knows I believe in her, and that she has absolutely nothing to be anxious about.
I'll protect you, not just from others, but yourself.
Aurora
Mr.Brick: "okay, it seems like we have no more volunteers." He said looking at all of us. "Aurora, Mason, why don't you go ahead and perform." He said looking at Mason and I.
*Gulp*
We both got up, and stood in front of the class. Mason started to tune his guitar, I stood there unable to look at anyone in the eye.
Mason: "I didn't know you had stage fright" he laughed. I couldn't say anything. I just looked at him terrified of the outcome.
Mason: "Hey.." He said while grabbing my hand, and held it tightly. "We will do fine." He said looking straight into my eyes.
At that moment, all my worries melted away at the touch of his hand. I have people that believe in me, but that shouldn't make me anxious but motivated. It should help me do my best. I closed my eyes and whispered to myself. "My floor, my roof, my room." I opened my eyes to the sound of the guitar playing, I opened my mouth, (start the music) and started singing.
You shout it loud, but I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud, not saying much
I'm criticized, but all your bullets ricochet
You shot me down, but I get up
I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, Fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium~
When I was done singing, I was expecting to hear "boo" from the crowd. But, instead I hear applause. It was the most wonderful feeling I ever felt, it was amazing. I couldn't help but tear up.
Mason: "Why are you crying?" He said smiling. "you were amazing." He said looking at me straight in the eyes.
I didn't know what to say, all I could do was smile with my tearing eyes, and look at the crowd. For once, people liked me.
Mason
I wasn't expecting it at all. Her voice, was just amazing. I was dumbfounded by her. I was in a spell. She looked so beautiful, the way she sang not only with her voice, but heart, the way she poured her feelings into the lyrics. She looked so free, after all, the song she wrote was about the feelings she was bottling up. She just lit up.
Aurora
At that moment, I felt relieved, strong, free. I can't really explained it, I don't know. But I know I won't go back to being vulnerable. I shouldn't need other people to be strong, I shouldn't need other people to fight, I'll do it for myself and myself is enough. I need to stop trying to fit in, I need to accept I am an uncommon breed and it's okay. I don't need acceptance, if I'm okay with myself, then that's all I need. I'm will stand tall, they can try to put me down but I will show them, I am Titanium. There will be times, where I fall but I will stand even taller, I will come back even stronger.
Matias
When she started to sing, I could feel how anxious she was but that started to fade away as she began to fold in the music. Then, I could feel her power, her presence. She looked stronger than ever, I knew she didn't need anyone to protect her anymore. The fragile crystal I knew, turned into an indestructible diamond.
