Boston was a busy city almost all of the time. People were rushing in every direction. I pulled Evan aside and handed him a blue crystal with magic properties to allowing me to amplify my abilities. As long as I am in contact with the other half of the crystal, he'll remain invisible, I explained to him. We hopped onto a tour bus with no fee. If people can't see us, it means we aren't there, right?
The tour bus slowly made its way through the city. We listened to the voice droning over the speaker explaining how The Museum of Fine Arts was established in the 1870's and that it was one of the largest museums in the states.
We finally arrived to our starting point and we were getting off when a voice behind us said, "Were you two planning to pay?" Damn, we got caught. I was trying to pull Evan off of the bus and run away but he wouldn't budge. "Wait!" the voice said. "He's holding onto my arm", Evan grunted. As I was turning around, I was yelling " Hey what's the big dea-?... Alf?!". He laughed and his tall but built frame shuddered. "I was wondering how anybody could see me. Why'd you scare us like that?... Never mind.", I said as he gave me a sarcastically condescending stare. Ugh, he's only three years older than me. " I can do the exact same trick, how could I not sense you."he replied anyways.
I asked, "why can't I never sense you?" He grinned then turned his gaze towards Evan and looked him up and down with his light brown eyes behind his glasses he could never be without."Who's this kid?". Oops, I forgot to introduce him. Evan stepped forward and offered his hand to shake. " My name is Evan Mallanders. I am 18 years old. I am the heir of the great Silv-".
"Okay Evan, I believe Alf has somewhere to be." I interrupted. Alfonso looked over at me with a look that read thanks and said, "Uh... Yeah, I have a job interview." He pulled his hand away from the handshake and ruffled his short, brown hair. "Today is the day Alfonso Burg will finally get his job!" He has to stop talking to himself in the third person, although I know he does it to get on my nerves. "See you later and I hope you finally get a job!" I exclaimed. He waved his hand subtly in the air as he walked away towards the five star Viune Restaurant where his interview would be taking place. He made a good choice in choosing that restaurant. I had to admit, he was an amazing cook.Evan and I headed home. Ember had a lesson to teach us and Evan is going to start going to my school tomorrow.
Our lesson was very short. Ember taught us how to tell if someone is being truthful or not using our powers. Ember first demonstrated on us, staring directly at us with her eyes that were like mini glass spheres holding a fire in each one. Whenever I said a statement, she had to determine whether I was lying or not. Every time she concentrated, her eye pattern started to swirl in a hypnotic way. She guessed all of my statements correctly. Then it was my turn and I guessed all of them correctly and so did Evan. "It was very easy today because we know each other and you guys made it easy on yourselves. Keep challenging yourselves. Also, it is very important that you are NEVER biased by your own opinions on someone you interrogate. You must always remain impartial. Okay?."
"Yes ma'am!",we replied. "Well then, I'll be seeing you two tomorrow after school then. Good night."
" Good night", we replied and we all retired to our bedrooms.
