Chapter 7: The Text

You went back to school and everyone looked drained from the weekend, people were chatting about it and really sleepy because if it. You was in form when Naruto came over a pecked Hinata on the cheek, she turned into a tomato, but he loved her and you could see that. I wanna a cute relationship like that. Then you looked over at Kiba staring at them saying "get a room," laughing. Why am I looking at Kiba? "Hey (y/n), what's that?" Naruto said pointing to your neck. You just covered them quickly and said nothing. They all laughed while you sat there embarrassed.

You had Science next and Asuma Sensei announced that there will be a science project and he is about to tell everyone the partnered. "Lee and Neji, Kiba and Ino, (y/n) and Shikamaru..." You were happy to be working with him because he's really smart and you thought he was really cool. Since you sit next to him you hooked arms with his surprisingly toned arms and whispered, "yay, at least I'm with a friend" he looks down at you, almost like he's .. Hurt. Did I say something? You looked at him in confusion and unhooked your arm and carried on with you work. "Yeah," he said looking at his work. That was a really late reaction?

You phone vibrated you checked your phone under the table not wanting to be caught it was Shino. Oh no. He had text me saying, 'meet me behind the gym in 10'. How am I gonna leave in 10mins. You noticed Shikamaru staring at your phone. "Is there something I'm missing?" He said to you now smirking.

"It's nothing jus-"

"I know, Kiba told me,are you 2 like a thing now?"

"..no. Well I don't think so. I didnt even remember doing it,"

"So what does he want?"

"To meet him behind the gym in 5"

"Why?"

"I don't know, what if he asks me out or he thinks we are a thing? What should I do?"

"Well do you like him?"

There was a long pause. "I don't know," you both just looked at each other. You raised you hand. "Yes (y/n)?" You began to get nervous. "May I use the bathroom please,"

"Why should I let you go?"

"I'm a woman! Your the one teaching me biology maybe I should ask you why!" Shikamaru began laughing at you under his breath. You then held in a smile while standing up in class. Shut up Shikamaru. You hide your smile well because Asuma lets you go.

As you went behind the gym you saw Shino perk up.

"(Y/n)"

"Why did you want to meet me?"

"I wanted some privacy?"

"Huh?" He gets closer and you could feel your heart beating out of your chest. "I see they are still there." Pulling down your sleeve to get a better look at his creations. You felt yourself shiver as he touches you. You liked it. He held your cheek and slowly began getting closer. "Shino?"

"Yes?"

"I'm not sure about this?"

"Why ever not?" He leaned away. You were slightly disappointed. "I .. I-" you were cut off by him smashing his lips on yours. You begins to kiss back but regretting it each time. You push him away. "I have to go," you say panicked and run in the direction you came from.

As you walk back to class you fix your hair and think about why you didn't like kissing him. I like Shino? Right? Then why did my body not want to kiss him? It didn't feel right almost like I was thinking of someone else but who? As your mind wonders your stopped in your tracks when you walk back into class. As you sat back down obviously Shikamaru was staring at you waiting for answers. "We..we kissed". It felt silent. Shikamaru was staring at you intently but you were looking at the desk like you had just seen a ghost. "I get the feeling you don't like him?" You looked up at him. You started to cry, and just buried your head in his shoulder. He was shocked and just hugged you back while Asuma whispered to Shikamaru, "take her outside so she can calm down," he said with a sympathetic smile.

Shikamaru lead you outside the class and sat you down on a bench.
"Why are you crying?"

"I .. I don't know?"

"You thought you liked him didn't you?" You just looked up at him shocked about how he knew that.
"But it didn't feel right, why is that?" He just looked at you and brought you into a hug. "Hey, do you wanna come to mine at the weekend, might make you feel better. We should also start on the project." He laughed and so did you at the fact he brought up the project while you were crying. But it did make you feel better to know he will be there for you. You nodded into his chest and held onto his hug for longer.
